Successful? We were constantly bailed out by wealthy supporters. Without them we were bankrupt. We did well (in lower leagues) because of them and despite our debt. The most successful period in the history of the club was getting promoted to first division and fa cup final anyway.
Nailed it. The coach says what he needs and the sort of player he wants. The DoF goers and finds candidates. Coach says if they are the right guys and then leaves the haggling to people who haggle professionally. Never understood why people thought a good coach by default equates to a good deal...
Welcome and thanks for posting. Macabi only conceded 7 goals at home last season - so I don't think he takes a Peterborough approach to winning games. Score lots and concede very few. Nice!
Oscar's first call:
"Ola Dave. See you at training on Thursday - it's going to be great"
"Gracias Oscar - can't wait. See you tomorrow - I'll bring my pen"
Here's my theory.
Albion have a strong case against Gus (or they wouldn't have sacked him in the first place and risked losing an appeal).
Gus will not now appeal and in return Albion will keep the breaches of contract private.
Gus walks and Oscar moves from Interim to FT Manager.
Life goes on...
Hard to see how this can't have affected the build-up to the season. TB said as much. But the effect might be small if we can get a manager in soon and reassure the current players.
Bingo - so Gus and his advisors spinning this into a pro-Gus story. You can't blame them and the BBC have got a great bit of apparent breaking news. Cheers Gus - time to go now.
Gus is a slippery bloody fish isn't he. I'm not going to pick what he says apart line by line but will say: Gus doesn't ever specifically say he didn't know before and he doesn't confirm the statement is the first he heard about it. He specifically says he got nothing and nothing on his phone...
