Why do you assume this is not being done? When Gus refused to speak to players about their contracts, people stepped in to make sure they were spoken with. I'm assuming that the same is being done with scouting, pre-season friendlies etc. The biggest issue caused by not knowing who the manager...

Does a breakfast with a great reputation. Have tried it twice - both times at the weekend moind you - and it was merely OK. Place was packed, service was slap dash, food was patchy. Many places doing it better these days (eg Roast at Borough Market and probably half a dozen places in Brighton).
