You're never alone when watching the Albion!
In the old Div 1 days I used to move away from the other fans (Special trains) so I could go for a beer without the police escort. It was also sometimes better to watch games alone in the home ends as the away pens were not always 'safe'.
So many fantastic comments & memories.
I've spent years boring anyone who would listen, especially my kids, on how great that team was. I dispaired for those youngsters that were brought up on the dross of post 83. I thought they'ed never experince what we had.
But this is better. I can't wait...
Not my 1st game but the 1st of a run of consecutive home games that I attended up to about 1984.
Remember this game well for the battle between Albion's fearsome Alex dawson and Walsall's teenage keeper Phil Parkes, who went on to play for QPR, West Ham, ipswich & England.
I will be better informed after the meeting then!
I am going along as one of the Bevendean Local Action Team.
As for the parking issue, I reckon the all inclusive P&R will help to resolve the issue, especially on wet days, when it will be better to do P&R than a 15 min walk.
I'm attending a meeting at the Amex tomorrow about the Green proposals to make Lewes rd one lane each way, south from the Amex, and a 20mph speed limit.
Seems the consultation showed a lot of opposition but the rumour is the Greens are determined to have their way.
I'd rather enjoy what we are doning now and see what happens if it happens. Just look at the hammerings certain promoted sides are having so let's be good & ready for the big time.
This week will be a good test. Two away games against teams who are struggling, the type of games we lost last...
A hard fought game.
I thought Lewes started a little in awe of Albion and Albion looked like they expected to win but, as the 1st half wore on, The Lewes players grew in confidence and really got stuck in, finishing much the more likely to score.
After what seemed an over long break, Albion...
With all the recent Hilsborough news, it brings back just how bad football was back in the 80's.
Back then it didn't bother me, as a bloke and not minding the odd push & shove all being part of the fun but few families went to football then and it's not hard to see why. It's so much better now...
