Good to see you back :)
You're right about the nurses, and not just the nurses all the ancilliary staff deserve a mention as well - I can't believe how cheerful they all are - fantastic.
The article highlights the basic situation - a 'shoot to kill' policy is not legal in the current framework. It is NOT politicians nor senior police officers who decide whether armed officers should shoot to kill or not - it is the individual police officer who has to make that decision...
Having lived through that period and with a shop in Wandsworth I don't see how anyone could claim he was "bang on".
He wasn't predicting riots by the immigrant population - quite the contrary, he foresaw the native population rising up against the immigrant population. It was this aspect of...
His metaphors and anecdotes in that speech referred to what he believed would happen if the Race Relations Bill was passed into law - none of which happened - quite the contrary the vast majority of the population embraced the new law.
Indeed, he was an opposition MP at the time of his 'Rivers of Blood' speech.
What is disregarded by many who claim, "he was right" is that the speech was in opposition to the Race Relations Bill passing through Parliament which would make it illegal to discriminate in matters of housing...
I'm looking forward to the day once again when we can compare the clubs on the one thing that really matters - football - sadly something we can't do at the moment. :(
Looking at the figures there is approximately a 500 millisecond difference between the reaction time of a 20 year old and that of a 70 year old - at 70mph that equates to a difference in stopping distance of 51 feet or about 4 car lengths!
Against - as I said though, my post neither intended to deceive nor did - misinterpreted by some who read it as a debating point in an argument rather than an informative post which it clearly was :)
Not really - I wasn't deceiving anyone - if you look at my post it was providing information for a poster who hadn't seen the building in real life nor able to find it on Google maps.
My post answered both his questions as he acknowledged :)
I even gave a 'thumbs up to the poster who posted...
Glas was I believe in for a bypass, (something thankfully I have managed to avoid by the skin of my teeth). The recovery time is much longer as is the time before he'll be back home. Fingers crossed everything has gone well and look forward to hearing from him.
I'm out - they managed to insert three stents into the blocked artery - that's six in total in two arteries! Still have one partially blocked artery but they're dealing with that with pills.
I hope your operation has been as successful Glas.
It is the yard containing those "ugly farm buildings" that has been 'developed' by Robert Fidler - the farmland with the cattle on is leased on a short term basis by him, the next renewal date is December 2015 and was only for a 12 month period - his claim that he needs a residence to be on site...
I'd love it financially if planning restrictions in the green belt were lifted seeing as I own more than 5 acres of it!
The thing is though that the green belt has a purpose, specifically to prevent urban sprawl. If green belt land was open for development it would immediately become the...
Exactly and this is what the Supreme Court decided - development wasn't completed until the straw bales were removed and the 'four year rule' commences from that point.
