I don't think anyone could argue that certain physical and mental faculties deteriorate with age - physical problems in general are fairly easy to assess and remedy, mental problems such as reaction time not so easily.
I have no problem with the idea that drivers should be medically assessed...

The vast majority of people claim to be good drvers - if that's the case where do all the idiots on the road come from. 20 or 90, very few recognise their own faults.

Actually we've gone off on a tangent - the 'double standards' I was referring to wasn't between club and player but that held by many fans - many of those holding negative views about incidents such as that which occurred with LB are exactly the same fans who will unreservedly call for the club...
What seems to be the general view is that if a player is of a standard that is useful to the club then any actions that player may make to leave for another club is a display of disloyalty.
