Patently they don’t judging by the number of threads on here about refs or chants of “you don’t know what you’re doing” at games.

Agreed - still can’t see any problem with highlighting what has happened in previous games and asking/hoping that refs do better in future games - whether that be tougher penalties for diving or cynical tackles committed.

Why can’t you ask for and expect to receive ‘protection’ and appropriate punishments to be dished out before a game? Isn’t that part of the officials job definition?

Personally I think it’s an indictment of the general public who no longer take the initiative to offer up their seat to someone who obviously needs one more than they do. I see this every match day on the P&R buses :(
