Thanks. Maybe high carbon is not what I mean - it is what I had been led to believe the metal was called. It is the old style knife - as in the picture - that is not stainless, discolours easily and can rust a little if not dried after washing. It is very easy to sharpen to a very fine edge (and...
Another random challenge for the great and the good of NSC...
Just before Christmas I dropped my wife's favourite knife and broke the tip off the blade so I am (desperately) looking for an vintage, hi-carbon chef's knife, 6-7 inch blade, preferably with a rivetted wooden handle similar to this...

Broken collar bones? Luxury! Our PE teacher - Chippy McPherson - used to clear the playground with a flamethrower that he had stolen at the end of the war. Sure a few boys were burnt to a crisp but that didn't stop them returning to school the next day.
If your only criterion for judging that meat is properly cooked is that it is piping hot, I can see why you would have no need for a thermometer...
All well and good but different shaped joints need different cooking times - long and thin cooks more quickly than short and fat even if the weight is the same; if you are cooking meat on the bone it cooks differently to meat off the bone, and the size and shape of any bones will also affect...
You seem obsessed by the fact that the police and/or the stewards didn't go into the south stand and remove the supporters with the bangers and flares. Do you think it is possible that the police and/or stewards felt that this would very likely result in fighting in the stand - possibly...
Not sure where you are getting your GDP figures from but they are not even close to being correct. Are you getting your millions and billions mixed up?
