Presumably all the people tipping Barnsley for relegation are ignoring the significant upturn in form after they appointed their new manager last season...
George Orwell.
If the thread had asked for more than one I'd have added Robert Tressell, Alan Turing and the members of the International Brigade who went from England to fight against Fascism in Spain.
I have also been fortunate enough, through work, to meet and interview a number of local...
I guess the concern would be that if everyone who did catch these now gets the train and the old queue at the R,S,P etc stops may just be transported into town once everyone gets off the train and tries to catch a 12, having already queued once for the train.
But, as I said, I am much more...
As someone who WAS concerned about either having to fork out an extra £75 or have a lot longer journey I am certainly less worried having seen these projections.
I hope they are mirrored post match.
Then all will be well.
I think much of the concern was based on how long it would take to get HOME when the entire stadium leaves at the same time (or within around 15 minutes of each other) rather than getting to the stadium.
But so far, these figures ARE reassuring.
Available HERE on the official club website.
Reasonable and reassuring for anyone who is unsure as to whether they can afford/justify the additional £75 charge.
Getting to the ground from the pick up spots should not take too much longer.
Will be interesting to see the post match travel...
Agreed. I have only seen estimates for travels to the game and these look reassuring. In some cases it will probably even be quicker so we should (myself included in this) perhaps hold fire on any more widespread moaning until we try the alternative out for a couple of games.
The extra time...
On the subject of concerns, I have seen an early prediction of the journey times from the old pick up points for Specials to The Amex for fans using local buses this season instead of replacement Seagulls Travel.
They look very reasonable. Slightly longer but not hugely so. Be interesting to...
Re: bus concerns. Having seen early estimate from the club of how much longer journeys from each previous Special location to The Amex, getting to the game should not take significantly longer if you use the local buses rather than paid for service.
My bad if it is massively wide of the mark. Wasn't intentional. Was based on info on THIS thread which uses THIS inflation adjusting price calculator type thing.
In fairness, in this instance, he said he was pointed in the direction of that discussion by a fellow supporter who emailed him.
Whatever people think of Paul Barber - and I'll say it again: hate the game, not the player - he IS very approachable and does take time to respond or discuss in...
Having been in touch with Paul Barber last night and this morning, I have put together this piece outlining his major arguments on supporter concerns - including:
- His thoughts (raised by him, not put to him by me in a question) about the potential of a one-off fan boycott of food, mechandise...
I genuinely, and this is nothing to do with the Albion price debate, think FFP is flawed and essentially self-serving for clubs already dining out at the top table of football.
You are basically restricting the chances of clubs moving up to the top flight based on their potential support base...
