If it was possible for me, I'd prefer to have a very early night, get up around 2:30 and take it from there. However, that's clearly bonkers, so I imagine I'll try to stay awake as long as possible and go to bed around 1:00 knowing nothing of the unfolding events as they occur until I wake up...
Despite everything, and I'm sure the Tories will win enough seats tomorrow, I'm still actually looking forward to staying up tomorrow night to see how things pan out. It's a bit like when the Eurovision votes come in, but much more interesting. Maybe the exit polls will be the ones calling the...
9/20. Think I'll stick to writing the quizzes rather than answering them. That reminds me: I need to update all my Sporcle quizzes for the 2016/17 season, which will be tough given that I obviously wasn't paying any attention to it.
Ooh, whatever happened to the "Philosophy" thread that Goldstone1976 set up a few years back? Does democratic logic necessarily require active responsibility to be taken, rather than for it just to be available? What about other democratic "rights", such as freedom of speech - do they have to be...
Tactical voting for me: I am pretty much diametrically opposed to the views of my MP (https://www.theyworkforyou.com/mp/10065/julian_brazier/canterbury/votes), in fact, appalled by most of them. Labour are the only party who can defeat him, but it would take some pretty co-ordinated voting to do...
Laura Kuenssberg doesn't seem to think it'll be close. I know many doubt her impartiality, but, out of interest anyway, she says:
"Again and again, whether in Wales, or the Midlands, or the North East, we heard voters say "I'm normally Labour, but…" contemplating voting Conservative for the...
I think Conservatives 20-25 seat majority. Theresa May weakened as a leader in the eyes of most, defeating her primary object of calling the election, but I don't think it'll change the manner or outcome of Brexit: the Tory majority in the House was always a red herring.
All the farmers I know are Tories. They're a bit worried about their EU subsidies now - strange, given how all of them voted to leave the EU, but I think it was a sovereignty issue for them, so they must have been willing to take the risk on possible financial losses, I guess?
Sounds like a reasonable day's work, all things considered. I remember playing a team from Portslade when I was 13 in the mid 1980s and they had a bowler called Percy. He got 9 wickets, but, hey, he couldn't get me out - someone else got me out. Lovely memories. I promised you a CD, didn't I? I...
Wow, that's big. Not sure whether it's anti-EU and a crass bit of triumphalism or some kind of not-very-subtle or funny satirical nonsense put up by anti-Brexiteers. Either way, great waste of money. What I can say, though, is that St Margarets is a lovely place for a walk on a sunny day.
If you're sure, I'll stop badgering him. You'll be telling me he's from an illustrious line of sporting heroes next.
What were your figures then? Did you rope in the kids?
I can't help thinking that we're going to be surprised by the result, one way or another. I suspect that, once some people get to the quiet of the polling booth and they're not being badgered by friends, families and celebrities, they just go and vote for the same old party they always do. To...
Additionally, I understand people's fears about the Shadow Chancellor, who is as far left a candidate for this position as I can remember. I genuinely have no idea as to how much influence an individual has to pursue their own agenda (e.g. Theresa May seems to portray herself as the only one...
I can definitely hear the Slaves influence! It seems there's a mainstream market for this kind of sound now where there wasn't previously - I like the bass and guitar doubling up on each other to give that kind of punky/rockabilly feel, good tension to it. Good luck to them.
