[Cricket] Legendary cricket umpire Rudi Koertzen has passed away at the age of 73

Very sad news. I met him a couple of times in the 2006/7 Ashes. I was a member at the WACA and at the end of a day’s play he gave Strauss out with a shocking LBW decision, you know the one where every Aussie appeals like it was nailed on and on that bouncy wicket it was missing the stumps by at...

    [Football] Wolves falling apart?

To be fair, there is no team that cheated the system more than Villa so I think your relative is on shaky ground there! They were staring admin in the face having gambled massively on promotion and got lucky. The net spend from that club over the last few years has been phenomenal and with...

It’s actually a very friendly city but i appreciate there are also some idiots living there. I think it’s very tolerant of races and religions, a real melting pot with very little history of racial tension, but I would agree that it has a way to go on other areas of diversity.

I have a lot of family in the area. To be fair I think that says more about your Villa supporting relative than it does about the Black Country!

Heading up to some of it - should be good. Brum is a great city but admittedly has a bad press it seems, I hope some of that negative perception can be changed over the next couple of weeks.

I have said elsewhere about my fondness for the city, and am also really looking forward to it though locally there is also a lot of cynicism I believe. I will be going to several events including a few nights at the athletics. I will probably have spares for Friday night of the athletics (and...

    [Football] Bescot Stadium

I believe there was a bit of ‘pushback’ but Poundland is a local company and so the greater good was served by having the stadium named after a local company. Never been there, though seen it from the motorway. Went to Fellows Park a couple of times.

[Albion] Friendly @ Amex weekend of 30th July

These extra charges for a pdf ticket have just been sneaked in. I bought 2 and parking for Newcastle, and for pdf tickets each was an extra £2.50. So it’s now £17.50 to park if you need a printed ticket (which I did on this occasion). What cost of living crisis? Mind you, Robbie’s car wash...

I remember watching the Eubank v Collins fight in a bar in Dublin. I didn’t feel in the majority in terms of allegiance that evening!

[Travel] First time trip to Thailand - Advice please

Without having read all the posts, watch out for the jewel scammers. It sounds obvious but they can be really plausible and it’s easy to get talking to someone who, before you know it, is telling you about a special Government offer to get tax free jewels that you can sell for a fortune once...
