    Unemployment benefit/government handouts.

For pretty much the same reasons, and I disagreed with it just as much then. It depends on how it's carried out and who it targets. Take my sister's case an example. She was made redundant as a single mother with two kids. All of her spare time was spent lookinbg for work, which she got, if...

    Unemployment benefit/government handouts.

A fair wage is the minimum wage set down by law and not a penny less.
  3. fork me

    Unemployment benefit/government handouts.

As I explained before I've never claimed a penny of benefits during my life. Left school with A'levels. Worked ever since, except for a short time at Uni. I was brought up on the council estates of Brighton and Portslade, I now live in a detached 3 bed house in sunny Limassol, and everything I...

    You're wrong.
  5. fork me

    Unemployment benefit/government handouts.

Good to see your search was fruitful, although of course, there are those in this thread who think that instead of looking for work, your time should have been occupied painting lamp posts.
  6. fork me

    Unemployment benefit/government handouts.

No-one is talking about asking them to, they're talking about telling them to. Forced labour for little or no return. I'd say that's a pretty good definition of slavery.

Corporate tax evasion, and individual tax evasion from the wealthy. Cameron was very quick to (rightly IMO) criticise Carr for tax evasion, but failed to mention that his own family riches were built from it.

    Unemployment benefit/government handouts.

Huge? Have you TRIED living on the dole? I have no problem with forcing people into work, IF and only if, they are paid a fair wage for it.
  9. fork me

    Unemployment benefit/government handouts.

I was brought up in Whitehawk originally, then we moved to Portslade when I was about 6 or 7. I know Portslade VERY well. None of which makes you any less of an ignorant prick. I've never claimed a penny of dole in my life, however, I've had many friends who have, and my Dad was on the dole for...

and 4) takes the work off someone else. This reduction of the council's overheads comes straight from the pocket of the guy who painted them before you got some slave labour to do it, and possibly forces HIM to sign on to feed his family along with all the loss of self respect that goes with...

    Unemployment benefit/government handouts.

So what? I don't personally see that the state has any less responsibility than any other employer. If they need something doing, someone should be paid to do it. Except that you're completely missing the point that it puts the people who currently do those jobs out of work.
  12. fork me

    Unemployment benefit/government handouts.

...and cut the tax for his wealthy mates. Same old Tory thinking. Look after theirselves and screw everyone else.
  13. fork me

    Unemployment benefit/government handouts.

Have you tried posting in sentences rather than questions?
  14. fork me

    Unemployment benefit/government handouts.

That makes it better? So when YOU'RE asked for evidence you take the piss, but expect somebody else to "argue constructively"? f***ing hypocrite. So why did you say it in the first place? Is it because you're an ignorant prick?
  15. fork me

    Unemployment benefit/government handouts.

Maybe, but that isn't what safeway suggested. He wanted to take it from EVERYBODY.
  16. fork me

    Unemployment benefit/government handouts.

I'll tell you why not, because if the fence, pier, lamp post needs painting somebody should be paid a wage for painting it. Getting people from the dole to do it for free actually removes work from other people that need it.
  17. fork me

    Unemployment benefit/government handouts.

Which comment? I haven't even vaguely suggested that anything you've said in this post is reasonable.
  18. fork me

    Unemployment benefit/government handouts.

Yes, and you wanted to take their money of them and leave them with no means of support.
  19. fork me

    Unemployment benefit/government handouts.

A little? It was f***ing outrageous. My sister is in her 30s. She's worked all her life since leaving school, has 2 kids and is split from their father. Two years ago she was made redundant through no fault of her own. Four months later she got a job, not a good job, but a job. She's now...

This coming from the poster who when asked to post evidence that a fair proportion of those claiming JSA were not looking for work said "Have you tried walking down Boundary Road?" Do you even know what a constructive argument is? Let me give you a clue, you haven't provided one in this thread.
