OK, say there is truth in this, what do we think? Would mean that Frank thought a ceiling had been reached at Brentford whereas he could go higher with Brighton. Clearly a good manager. A sensible appointment I would reckon. Keramik perhaps?
I'm quite stoaical about it all really. I think we were on an amazing adrenaline fuelled ride which all crashed down after Roma and we haven't been able to get back on track. I think we've all been guilty of this so not going to blame anyone, we all just refresh, retool and go again next year.
Hasn't this kind of thing been seen for ever in every division with every team ever? team with something to play for fights harder than one who's goals were decided earlier in the season?
And does it ever have a bearing on the next season?
Jeez take a step back, please.
We're Brighton and Hove Albion football club. We have youth teams, walking football teams, wheelchair teams, blind teams, a womens team and a mens team. And we invest a lot into local community projects. A sports club is for everyone.
Or maybe we just can't keep getting better and moving forward every single season. You could have written this after the Hyypia season, or after our second PL season, or perhaps after RDZ's first month in charge.
This is where the 'well-run club' narrative comes into play. That is what might...
Failing to sign Kudus.
We got so close, clearly, it was being reported as a done deal. RDZ must have spoken to him, must have wanted him and been excited by him. We clearly could have afforded him - so did we lose out because we didn't want to give the release clause, or because West Ham...
We've all given up a bit, fans, players, management alike - it was such an intense first two thirds of the season, and then the adrenaline just drained after Roma, the balloon has well and truly deflated. Really hard to get that going again, especially when we are playing team after team with...
I think a lot of us feel like this. Which is exactly why it shouldn't be a surprise that the team are feeling this way too. Lets all just get to the end of the season, have a break, re-tool, and go again with renewed optimism. No need to start calling for sackings or other drama.
You're right...
Its a rut. But all runs of bad form come to an end one day. Was it four or five losses on the voice under Potter before we turned it round and became awesome?
Remember, the football never ends
Not sure i get the Poyet comparison, my memory is we we're very good the final four months under Poyet, finishing 4th until we were undone by Paiace in the playoffs.
Alright. We started this when you said we had taken a step backwards this season. Although our team isn't as good this season, clearly, and frustratingly, i believe that our fundamentals are stronger, and hence that we have not taken a step backwards. All teams at any point in time have a...
Because when you're deemed to have failed at a big club your star fades precipitously. Whilst when your on the way up, teams don't want to miss out in case you're the messiah,
so tend to promote too early.
It's one of the better arguments for getting Potter back, we wouldn't be looking over...
Yes, we would. I think Bart has a long way to go, but the potential to be better than Steele is clear. I think playing Steele so much has been very clever, it showed us the alternative. Because you're right, if Bart played every week and made some of these mistakes every game he'd be getting...
Arsenal, they play really good football and I'm surprised more isn't made of their style of play, considering how much the media fawned over RDZs style at Brighton and its very similar.
Certainly would be happy for Trossard to win it, a bigger servant for brighton than Mac was, however much...
Well obviously i disagree. I think if you went back 2 years and sold Mac Allister that summer and then had March, Mitoma and all the rest injured for that season we not only wouldn't have finished 6th but also wouldn't have been sitting 10th with six games to go. If you want to argue the...
