    Cemetary Polka

Outside another yellow moon punched a hole in the nighttime, yes I climb through the window and down the street shining like a new dime the downtown trains are full with all those Brooklyn girls they try so hard to break out of their little worlds You wave your hand and they scatter like crows...

Animals - Help Avoid their Torture!!

It amazes me how many so-called animal lovers keep carnivorous pets but complain about mistreatment of animals. By purchasing pet foods they are perpetuating and extending some often unpleasant practices on other animals for their own pleasure and satisfaction.

Animals - Help Avoid their Torture!!

Your basic lab mouse costs about £100 to prepare and a transgenic one ~£250. For a relatively simple study, such as examining the microvascular effect of hyperglycaemia, you are looking at a cost of £75K - £100K on animals alone over a couple of years. Once you add on the costs of technicians...

he will be lucky if he lives long enough to see out the ban

But it is only a cat. I agree it didn't deserve that but an owl or snake owner would feed live mice to them, what is the difference as far as suffering is concerned? Our attitudes to animals amaze me, we happily poison and squash many harmless ones because they are ugly or continually catch them...

he will be lucky if he lives long enough to see out the ban

Its a f***ing cat, and it died how nature intended. Can't stand them myself for the carnage they visit on wildlife. Seems an excessive sentence when violence to humans usually results in a lesser punishment. It is a bit sick though.

    Alcohol

Yes, I have. I used to drink regularly but stopped five years ago. I occaisionaly have a drink - the last one was a pint of ale in the Earl of March, Lavant, on 18/02/06 - but never more than a pint. If for some reason you have to stop, you do or you are a fool.

Now this really is a good idea

Yes and no. It is not a fact that 4x4 cause or extend climatic change, just a poorly described hypothesis - and that is another debate. I accept your point that the symptoms may be different but my argument is around using taxation to counter the impact of the product that is being taxed...

Now this really is a good idea

I don't care if the logic works. I am more interested in the idea that the people who drink excessively pay a fair share of the cost of dealing with the consequences of that drinking. It does cost money to provide the policing necessary in town centres, A&E departments are overwhelmed at...

Now this really is a good idea

    'Gas guzzlers' face parking hike

There are many things that we don't need but have. Should we apply this principle to other aspects of our lives like the size of our houses, the number of electrical devices, how far we can travel each year, etc.? You could easily make a stronger case in terms of environmental protection for all...

    'Gas guzzlers' face parking hike

Just another tax raising scam isn't? Even a poxy micra will have to pay 10% more while an average family saloon like a BMW or Ford will go up 50%. And all to be able to park your car on the road. This will probably lead to even more people converting their front gardens into car parking spaces...

    Any Diabetics out there ?

Thats awful. If you or your wife need advice or support on diet or any other aspect of this, then ring Diabetes UK and speak to one of their advisors (Careline 0845 120 2960). They should also have some simple factsheets on their web site which are probably all the dietician will give you...
