Yes.

Lord Bracknell said:It's interesting that the questionnaire doesn't specifically pick up on the crimes that were punishable by hanging when Britain last had (and used) the death penalty:-
Murder in the course or furtherance of theft
Murder by shooting or causing an explosion
Murder while resisting arrest or during an escape
Murder of a police officer
Murder of a prison officer by a prisoner
Two murders committed on different occasions (if both done in Great Britain).
It's noteworthy that killing a child isn't on that list and that shooting was considered more serious than knifing.
Whatever ... the answer is 'NO'.

the caveat to the above is that the specific circumstances would have to exceed a bar. E.g., that the assailant would always be a danger and there is no possibilty of rehabilitation. The likes of Huntley, West, Suttcliffe, Stone, etc. have no place in human society IMO.
That should help your humanities coursework
I doubt it matters to some who who are happy to indulge in these odd, almost masturbatory frenzies of fantasy and torture when it comes to discussing stuff to do with crime and punishment..."I'd nail 'em up, watch 'em suffer, then torture 'em, then get the relatives in, then torture 'em a bit more" etc etc.Bad Ash said:For those of you who are anti what would you think if a serial rapist/murder with a life sentance (well perhaps a 100 life sentance so it'd actually mean they should never get out) escaped from prison then comes across your family and has his way with them?
Sure it's very unlikely, but I wonder if you'd still feel the same way since capital punishment would prevented it.
