I know he's been injured, had glandular fever (maybe) and been off form, but he hasn't done anything for 18 months now in what has to be the most important point in his career. He hasn't looked like doing anything in his few fleeting appearances and the fact that his appearances have been fleeting have probably been down to him not looking good in training.
Now I'm sure that's a worry to him, FH, the coaching team and the fans, who at the end of the day all want to see him back to what we all think he could be capable of. But at the moment he's not going to get on the pitch in front of Danny, Joao Pedro or Georginio.
I think that's why we're looking at options, and I'm sure the club is fully aware of the risk of selling someone who was a brilliant prospect 18 months ago, and them managing to turn it around and become a brilliant prospect again, which is why I suspect we'd prefer a loan.
But, as has been said many times, every player has his price.

100% this. That cynical assault on Evan has deprived us of the privilege of seeing a promising career emerge. However, he is still young and a loan could reinvigorate him, but we shouldn't sell him at a knock-down price. What I'm most disappointed with is that the much heralded Dr Phab hasn't delivered the faster rehabilitation of players like Evan that we were hoping for.

Agreed it's a risk, but if we got a rejuvinated Evan Ferguson back at Lancing for pre-season training in the summer it could be a massive boost for next season. Obviously in the near future we need a Welbeck replacement and they do not grow on trees and come with a huge price-tag. I say keep the faith with Evan.
The guy to go for is Sesko at Leipzig if we want a player close to Welbeck’s attributes. They are are buying and selling club so a deal would be possible in the summer. Unfortunately, it’s going to take £50m. The £20m gamble on Tzimas looks far more likely.
That said, when we gambled £25m on a very young and inexperienced Baleba, we certainly made the right choice.

Why don't we just do a loan swap with Leverkusen for Boniface and Ferguson? We tried to sign him but were blocked by the transfer embargo with USG before he went to Leverkusen so we have obviously been interested in the not too distant past. This way Evan gets a move and game time with Leverkusen and we get striker cover as well. Stops Evan going to a PL rival like West Ham too.

Objectively speaking, Boniface is worth much more than Ferguson. Boniface is actually performing now, none of this paying for potential.
Also I'd imagine that Boniface sees his next step as something higher up the ladder than Brighton (or at least higher paying, if the failed move to Saudi is anything to go by).

Said similar in a different thread. Ferguson is more valuable to the club that a 31 year old who may not see the end of next season. Pedro / Rutter will inevitably be off in the summer and we will need another striker. I think the best option is to loan Ferguson out, then we can reconvene in the summer when there is more time to thrash this issue out.

We obviously don't see the whole picture but a lot of the whispers coming out don't paint FH in the best light. Ensico, Fergie, Minteh. I pray that the only damage done this season will be finishing lower than hoped and not that we lose 2 or 3 of our talented youngsters just because some fresh faced football MBA type eqivilent is cutting his teeth and making mistakes.

Bloody hell! If we get that then I propose the cash is used to give us all free season tickets next year!

Either he's crap and we need to sell him or our 'Boy Wonder' of a manager can't get anything out of him and he needs to go.
