Puts a lot of onus on Welbeck, a player with a patchy injury record.
yes that’s what i just don’t get! england is likely to get the extra european spot, two of the ‘big six’ are crap, were a couple of points away from the european places and still the decision seems to be to weaken the strike force, replace evan in the summer and rely on an aging number 9, for whom there is absolutely no guarantee that he’ll stay fit, and we’ve already demonstrated we’re crap without. seems crazy!

Evan MAY not turn out to be the great striker we hoped, and hasnt looked the same since his injury. Maybe there's more to these injuries than we know. But if we cut ties now it certainly doesnt feel like we've given anywhere near a good amount of time to try and revive his talent. If FH is right in that he could be fit for Forest then surely it makes complete sense to either ease him back in with us and assess in the summer, or loan him out and assess in the summer. Selling now just feels really foolish. A start here and there, some sub appearances, a few goals go in, and suddenly you could have a confident Evan back.

if a permanent deal is even being contemplated then it’s quite obvious that he’s done here. what an almighty shame. quite why the logic is to make our squad weaker now and bring in tzimas in the summer when we have a chance in the cup and aren’t far from europe is beyond me. especially as there’s no way spurs and united are this bad next season. i get we’re in a transition period but it seems like an utter waste
A chance in the Cup? Based on what, other than the fact we're one of the last 32 teams left in it?

this is what makes me think that the manager just doesn’t rate him as a player (which he is entitled to do!).
if the idea is that the loan is for him to get confidence then a) there’s no buy option and b) we would probably keep him here in the hope that our need for bodies gives him game time and there confidence

I just cant get on board with it being that FH doesnt rate him. Evan has been fit for only a handful of games this season. Given how rare proper strikers and how good he was pre injury, you'd think FH would want to keep hold of him if there was even just a small hope he would come good. & tactically, if Welbeck fits a FH team then so can Evan (with a bit more coaching).

On current form, Spurs are looking like having an 'invincibles' season next year.

In the Championship :clap::clap::clap:

Totally agree. The narrative that Ferguson can’t play a certain style is absurd. You coach players. They learn new skills. They develop them with experience etc
Are people really suggesting twenty year olds are finished products!?

Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler:

"I like a striker who is a clear No9. His profile of player is not that often available. We like this style of player. Evan is a very good character.

"In the end it's important for such a young player who had this many issues in the past to play regularly because without playing time, game time you don't get your belief back, self-confidence back. That's the main thing we have to focus on with him."

"He trained for the first time yesterday and he's in good shape. We're very happy he's back in our squad.

"If everything went well with the last training sessions then for sure he will be an option [to be in the squad to face Nottingham Forest].

"My job is really to focus on the player on the pitch. He trained well yesterday. He came through the session without any pain. That's the main thing at the moment. The other things we can't influence.

"He knows my thoughts, the thoughts from the club. The thoughts from Evan. That's the most important and then we'll see what happens.

"I'm OK he's in our squad and really happy he's in our squad and want to keep working with him. But it's important to discuss with him what's important for the individual development of the player. That's the main thing: we want to develop the players, help them. Then we see what makes sense for the player in the next six months, what makes sense for the club then we make a decision all together.

"I felt in the conversations I've had with Evan that he only wants to play. That's his main thing, no matter if it's here or for another club".

Given he says he likes the player and wants to keep working with him I get the impression that the 'another club' bit in this in relation to if we loan him to get him upto speed or keep him with us, rather than finding another club to sell him too.

I hope he regains his form with us there are many stupid comments on this thread doubting one of the best young strikers in world football a couple of seasons ago.
Players get injured March isn’t written off ever and given the time to recover. Evan has a few minutes on the pitch and labelled as crap.
Are you honestly saying you can’t see the difference between someone who has been a proven performer for us for over 10 years and came back stronger from really serious injuries more than once and one who performed for 6 months and has looked like an amateur since returning from a couple of less serious injuries than March had?

This transfer could be career, season, day, week, month and year defining.

I strongly believe this one WILL define the Fabian ‘era’ one way… or another.

Still, deep down… I can’t help but feel something evil is going on…

No idea if this guy is reliable.

I wouldn't trust this too closely. He was harping on about Mathys Tel going to Chelsea earlier today but has now gone back and edited his tweets to make it look like he hadn't missed the story that everyone else was reporting - Tel's off to Spurs.

Another reason not to use Twitter ffs - thought I was going mad as his tweets changed whilst I wrote this post.

Excellent stuff!

Have we sold him yet?

Massive call to let Ferguson go permanently, if it happens.
Maybe we’ll get the £50-60m people were calling for.
