Leaderless all over the pitch.

Who is talking to the players to get back in position?
We so miss Gross aswell as other vocal players like Lallana - within the dressing room
It was public that FH wanted PG to stay.

It's now pretty bloody obvious that PG's knowldege and experience would be invaluable.

Without Veltman and Welbeck we have a significant cranial defecit on the pitch. It shows.

Gross was never going to stay. For family reasons he wanted to go home and, well, he’s playing Champions League football.

But for our side to function at the moment we ideally need JV And Welbz playing with the youngsters. You are 100% spot on.

You both are, sadly.
We have 3 cool, calm heads, experienced at the highest level. All injured (semi permanently, in Milner's case).
Without them we are a bunch of talented, sensitive kids, with a couple of decent players at a level below.
We've been unlucky with injuries but the buying has been badly unbalanced

JV balances the back 4 when he plays, Van Hecke is a much better player with Joel in the team, everyone saying dunk had a poor game yesterday but Van Hecke was just as bad, for me Joel has to be given a new deal when it's due.
I’m with you but how many more miles has he got in the tank?

Just far enough away from LDC
There is a reason why FH wanted Hummels. It seemed Hummels was keen too but then nothing came of it even though apparently the data added up.

No gross, milner, lallana and add welbz and veltman to it and as I have been saying since the southampton game, we don't have calm leadership at the moment..Dunk is a leader but he is a more aggressive up and at 'em type

Actually we have 5 that can play RB (Veltman, Webster, Lamptey, Hinshelwood and Kadioğlu) but you’re missing the point again.

To repeat, imo Veltman is by far our best RB followed closely by Jack and we are much poorer in defence when neither of our 2 decent FBs are available - the others are OK options for me (I’ve not seen Ferdi enough as a right sided player to judge though tbf)

I don’t think though, we’d be having this conversation if FH hadn’t resorted into playing 3 at the back with VH as RB because 4 of our RBs were injured, or us relying on a RB who is clearly better in attacking mode than running back to defend.
Don't think Webster has ever played RB. I wanted to see it for years but it didn't happen. And considering GP never played him there I think it is unlikely another manager will, since few others are as inclined to try players in new positions.

Pretty sure GP did play him there (it was a home game when Duffy partnered Dunk at CB). It didn't last long though.

Indeed. Also Veltman once played left back and was a disaster, at fault for two goals and I believe was sent off at home to Everton(?), I think. Never played there again in his career, very probably at his insistence.

Always find it fascinating how in theory you’re just doing the same thing but on the other side of the pitch?
