[Albion] No Veltman, no party

Interestingly, I think your post is a load of bollocks.

Veltman was our worst player today from the starters, and was lucky to stay on as long as he did, particularly when Lamptey was somehow pulled before him. He offered absolutely nothing going forward, often causing moves to break down and slowing play down at every possible opportunity. He misread the flight, somehow, of four different headers. Lost the ball on numerous occasions. Gave away two stupid free kicks. Misplaced two easy passes that would’ve had a Brighton player running into space. Had to have Gruda covering his backside the whole of the first half as he was out of position so often. And then gave away a penalty that lost us the game rather than just playing bloody football and clearing it. It wasn’t so much that he had a bit of a poor game, it’s that he was absolutely abysmal from start to finish.

That's a very detailed summary of a single player. Do you keep notes on all of the starters and subs throughout the game to come to a conclusion on best and worst performers?

To be honest, I've previously skimmed your posts on the teams performances as don't find them particularly insightful and this hasn't changed my view.

JV is an experienced international footballer who is brilliant for our side. He was shit today. Everton needed someone to f*** up to get in front then SHUT up shop. Joel obliged.

Didn’t attack down their right once first half, everything went left to Ndayi to get at Veltman.

No I think it’s more of an age and fitness thing. You’ve got to adapt as you get older as a defender against rapid, 20 something forwards and it’s generally worked for him.

Massive f*** up today though that cost us a point.
I get this, but the last few games especially, his dark arts have been full on. Maybe time to rein it in a little?

Harsh. It was easy to analyze Joel Veltman today as he stood out both with respect to today’s game and his usual dependable self.

Yet despite his mistake leading to the penalty, he and the rest of the team didn't allow a single shot on goal. Wish they were that poor every week.

In my opinion because Everton stuck the entire team behind the ball in the second half…and then only played with 10 for the last 15 minutes or so.
