As a young un back in the 70's, we came back from 0-2 to beat Millwall 3-2. F-Troop were flashing blades in the North Stand & The Treatment were fighting with police dogs in the South West.
The Bosun were in full effect then, it was mayhem when the winner went in.

one's that instantly spring to mind inc Chelsea 83 obviously and a midweek league cup game v Arsenal (79 I think) loads of Arsenal skinheads took (Das Reich, might correct me here) the North Stand, and it pissed down with rain!
Away, West Ham midweek about '86, think it was The Milk Cup. Upton Park tube was full of nasty lookin casuals and I genuinely though this pissed Albion fan who they had singled out for previously giving them some verbal, was going under a tube, luckily said tube arrived and the movement of people broke the scuffle up.

When we beat Millwall at the Den when Codner scored in the mid/late 80's we were kept in for ages and then had an escort back to the tube (which everybody walked in silence) and we got a taxi back from the tube to our car.

Biggest crush was the Peterborough Cup game in the snow.

Leeds away 1981/2 in the old top division. We had nothing to play for, it was their last home match of the season, and they would be relegated if they lost.

We were knocking the ball around for an hour, Leeds were truly shite, then Michael Robinson scored in front of their kop and ran to them giving them the 'you're going down' sign.

For the next half hour it was terrifying, their nutters in the stand nearest to us spent the whole time out of their seats identifying our fans (about 70 of us). The police said they could not guarantee our safety getting back to the station.

Luckily we conceded two goals in the 90th minute and it all calmed down, and to make things better Leeds went to West Brom three days later and were relegated.

Special mentions must go to Millwall away in 1985, where Mick Ferguson scored the winner to ruin their 18 month unbeated home record, Peterborough away in 87/88 FA Cup second round, and Port Vale away when we were promoted a few seasons ago.

Millwall at the Old Den in 1976/7 - as The Auditor has already mentioned - 1-0 to us (Wardy) and absolute silence after we scored.
Millwall fans then got on to the pitch from behind the goal, on to the terracing by the side of the pitch and started climbing up into the seats behind to get at some Brighton fans - and were being cheered on by the rest of the crowd!

Gets my vote. The only time you didn't want the bearded duffer to score and he does!

I remember Millwall fighting amongst themselves next to our enclosure, being kept in after the game and when we phoned for a taxi to come and collect being told "stay where you are lads, there's a riot going on".

West Ham away 90-91 (play off season). The only game I actually wanted us to lose as it was intimidating from start to finish.

Thankfully we did, tho Mick Small put us 1 up at half time!

I was at that game (14 years old, first away game north of London) I have a memory of one lone Albion fan running on the pitch at the end, a big lad, It could have been Canning!? or did I just dream it? I remember some lad wearing a tee- shirt and a tie (it was the 80's) wasn't you was it?
Me and my mate spent the journey back to kings cross giggling at Tony Rochdale's pissed up antics on the train...Happy Days!

Ipswich away, last game of the season circa 1993 ?. Albion got relegated that day afterr losing 3-1...Raphael Meade scored for Brighton i believe.

But there were 3,000 + BHA supporters crammed in the corner and for once, i really did fear for my safety as no one could move....people were pissing up your back because you couldn't get out for a slash...a most unpleasant day.

One of the Pompey away games was a bit of a crush too but i can't recall that too much !!!!

Reading away...lost 0-3 (Elm park), one of the last games of the season was a bit lively with 43 BHA getting arrested. All you could hear walking back to Reading nick whilst i waited for my mate was windows being smashed. Bloody good atmosphere outside Reading nick that evening though whilst we all waited for our mates.

after the game Brighton went around the back of the seated stand to the right of the away pen and got into the lower seats while ipswich were on the pitch celebrating they soon spotted us and it got a bit uncomfortable ,so a strategic withdrawal was made , incidentally there's a photo in the casual scene book just before Brighton " went in" that day

I think I was about 10 years old, we were playing Wimbledon at Selhurst; It was one of my first away games. I was there with my old man and his mates and they decided to go and have a drink in one of Palace's top pubs. The owner of the pub knew we were Brighton fans (I was sat there with a Brighton shirt on) and come out to the beer garden telling us to leave in case Palace's lads came round and do what they did to the last opposition fans who went in their pub - it didnt sound nice to an innocent ten year old wearing a Brighton shirt - I remember shiting myself for the next couple of hours thinking these Palace fans were gunna turn up at the pub and I was gunna get caught up in a massive ruck

Definitely Ferguson, Codner scored in the 2-1 victory at the Den in the second leg play off in 1991.

I think it was the following season, when we were whupped 3-0, that one of the Millwall fans was in our end, and after they scored the 2nd goal, stood, raised his hands high in the sky and went 'MILLLLLLLWALLLLLLLLL'. Within 0.3 seconds he had cleared a 20 yard radius around himself as we all decided to give him *cough* 'room to breath', and no one went near him for the rest of the match. Our 'top boys' for some reason had a more important appointment that day washing their hair, not that I blame them.

Traveling back to Brighton on the train every window was broken when a few Millwall disembarked at the next station to the ground directly onto the track, and then used stones from the track to shatter the glass.

I would of been at that game but i dont remember that incident;mind you it was a while ago now.
