Hope you got permission from blue sparkly disco shorts and simster before you started this thread :glare:

Haha! It seems I've got under your skin. Can I take the opportunity to mention as well that in between calling me a dipshit and telling me to feck off you replied to my last post on that thread, edited it and then replied again to the same post. And then you claimed you were not indignant but laughing. 'Course you were, Davey Boy. 'Course you were. :flounce:

Sorry chap but you don't need a degree in Politics to see that that is a load of rubbish. Libertarianism is almost exclusively an ideology supported by the far right of the Conservative party. I think you're confusing it with Liberalism. Again, these protesters are not Socialists. The vast majority of those on the left are not anti-state, anti-liberty or anti-property. The kind of reductionist political arguments you're attempting are 6th form at best.

Sorry but that's nonsense. There are a lot of very respected people who describe themselves as left wing libertarians, Noam Chomsky being one that springs to mind.

I'd agree with you that these protesters are unlikely to be anarchists in a classical sense but I do suspect that their politics are of a socialist persuasion. The fact that the vast majority of the left are not anti-state doesn't mean that these people aren't. I suspect they'd call themselves anarcho-syndicalists. The cynic in me would describe them otherwise but I don't think there's any doubt these protesters are left wing, claim to be anarchists and the kind of revolutionary changes they are demanding aren't too far removed from the Paris Communards.

Protestors acted like protestors, Police acted like Police. Both as daft as each other. Waters still wet, skys still blue.

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
The previous post about the Saturday shop workers experience sickens me to the core. Barrel of Fun its over to you to explain the merits of that type of behavior !!

You strange being. I asked a question, which you failed to answer...

What is a 'tax avoiding parents establishment'?

Where did I condone or justify the behaviour of the various pressure groups?

To reiterate my question...

What is a 'tax avoiding parents establishment'?

It's not nonsense, I said almost exclusively. I share some Libertarian ideology but am left of centre. I am in a small minority though. There are a few well respected vocal examples like Noam but the vast majority of Libertarians are on the far right of conventional Conservatism.

As for the rest I think you've made some good points.

This thread was started by someone complaining that the protesters made him miss the guard of honour. Surely it's his own fault for poor planning?

I agree it is, but that hasn't been the point of this thread for quite some time, it's been a left/right wing who is better spac fest.

it's funny isn't it, how some us, as FOOTBALL fans, come on here and rant about having their lives impeded by groups who share an ideology/cause/whatever who we might disagree with and yet, don't appreciate how our brand of 'group' affects other people's lives.

Sorry, but, did I read that this protest involved around 200 people? Is that all?

What I never understood was that when right wing yobs protested they tended to show their faces.

When left wing tossers do it quite a few cover their faces.

The left are definately the more gutless of the two sets.

what a pathetic point. really.

I didn't realise the point of a thread expires and becomes irrelevant less than three hours after it's started (which is when I started to make my point).
