Travis were excellent back then too.

I also remember seeing Gene at the east wing as well and they were excellent too.

Yes (2002)
Full orchestra
started witha 20 minute version of "Close To The Edge"

Marvellous scenes

and anyone remember their concert there in 1980 on the Bugglefied "Drama" tour.

Trevor Horne: "Hello Southampton"!!!!!!.

It went downhill after that

I can't remember the most memorable gig I have been to at the Brighton Centre.

boom boom

When Genesis played at the Brighton centre the first time, we had just lost at Derby.....during the bugger about bit in " I Know what I like" the GOD Phillip Collins said ...." Sorry you lost at Derby..."

We were moved to tears that he does follow our results.

Earlier that day I had spotted a Phil Collins AND Mike Rutherford staggering about in the lanes wearing Albion shirts and grass skirts. True legends !

You sure it was the Event ?

I saw them at The Brighton Centre in 95/96 - minus Bez and kermit

Yep. They did one at the Event with a full complement of staff. Supported by the Mighty Kaliphs (*cough* shit) . Bobby Gillespie was there, Fatboy Slim, Annie Nightingale, me!

It was absolutely brilliant.

The one at the Brighton Centre was very muted and Kermit and Bez's absence only made it worse.

Read all this lot and no mention of Crowded House! Just reformed for a few gigs I hear.

Christmas with Gary Glitter and Suzy Quatro as support wearing her leather trousers and astride her bass guitar - marvellous scenes!

10CC - were excellent, as was Sting with Paul Carrack as support.

Worst - Jimmy Nail. Heard better in the 6 Bells when tuning up!

It makes you realise how much shit we get dished up nowadays. The Council need to pull their sodding finger out and build a decent performing arts/conference centre. Is that too much to ask for!?

Depends how much council tax you're prepared to pay. Venues that size aren't cheap.
