Bob Marley in one of his last ever gigs.
Great night.

That's the only decent gig I've ever seen there, it's a crap venue and you have to be a genius like his Bobness to rise above the shoddy surroundings and dull acoustics.

Last 3 Jam gigs and Meatloaf :clap2:

Now - can someone help me out here? I have the memory of a goldfish I have the memory of a goldfish but I'm pretty sure I saw The Jam twice at the Brighton Centre.

Once was fairly early in their career (79?) resplendent in 2 tone mod outfit. Once was when they were supported by the Piranhas. Was this their last ever gig? When was the other gig?

If "barely able to remember them" gigs count as memorable gigs then I would also like to add Bruce Springsteen (bootleg TDK somewhere).

Er...... karaoke night at the Centre?
Were you a member of some boy-band then Bracknelzebub.... Gay City Rollers ??
It was live. It was on stage in the main hall. And there were boys AND girls in the band. The legendary Burl Ives was top of the bill.

We rocked.

The Brighton Centre is a TERRIBLE venue for live acts.

Favourite Brighton gig was Black Grape at the Event in 1995/6 - now that was a great gig.

Roxy Music can do no wrong, but I didnt see them
OMD was total shite
wasnt the Garry Newman concert the one where he ended up having a row with some people in the audience who started whistling at him?

Hither (sometimes Thither)
Hello McMPeople!

In 1987 i was 12. Been into hip-hop since i was about 6, so went excitedly to see Eric B & Rakim and Public Enemy down the Brighton Centre. Bloody f***ing hell what an evening. The sort of night that had some young boy meeting Chuck D for a moment, trying to look cool, but mostly being a rotund, winsome pre-pubescent admirer whose adult straight face had yet to be born.

Went back to see PE in 1989 and 1990. All hugely memorable nights. Especially one in which some brute punched me in the chops twice for some look i'd given him. Blood and bruises on the face, but still a great time had.

Agreed. Although it was nowhere near as bad as the Wembley Empire Pool.

The only halfway passable gigs I remember at the Centre were The Tubes, Graham Parker & the Rumour and The Who ('79 version). But that's only because they were all great live performers. They were far better when seen in more convivial surrounds.
