Indietracks Festival / all things C86 and indiepop!

Cor, I've been dying to post this for days but haven't had the chance. But look, here's the first batch of bands playing at this year's Indietracks. Loads of great stuff, but I'm particularly looking forward to seeing Brighton's very wonderful The Blue Minkies back in action again, and Rocketship. And Withered Hand. And The Popguns who were surprisingly good when I saw them a year or two back at the Buffalo Bar (supported by Joanna Gruesome)... and and and... it all looks bloody great already and there's still about 30 bands to be announced!

Franny & Zooey is the name behind Juan Julio Peña and Victoria Linares, two close friends that decided to form a band in the sizzling summer of the 2012 in the Dominican Republic. The band is heavily influenced by 60′s pop, shoegazing melodies of the 90′s and with a tender touch of surf rock rhythms. They recently released their first EP called Bananafish through Dufflecoat Records.

I've already checked that out, Murray, as they are not only a favourite of my own, but actually my WIFE as well. She's well into them, and is keen to be taken to see them live at some point.

It won't be at the Welsh thing though, sadly.

Always exciting when your favourite festival line ups are released. Bit suprised with the Gruff Rhys inclusion. I like his stuff and have a few of his albums but he does not seem to fit in with the other indie types. But then what do I know! Popguns were a Brighton favourite of mine many years back and played at The Albert not that long ago.
