How does second tier norsk football compare with our league? Championship standard, L1, L2......10 in 30 isn't bad if the level he's at is equivalent or better.

I'm a norwegian Brighton supporter and think I'm able to say something about the level. Haven't watched many Brighton matches, but I was over to see the one against Huddersfield last year, and I follow them on Sky (if possible).

I would say that the level in L1 is about the same as in norwegian second tier.

Unfortunately I haven't seen Midtgarden playing, but he was ranked seond on tema in the local newspaper last year, and ranked as number 1 among the fans last year. Most people was surprised that his team survived last year, and he contributed well. He has played 1 U-21 match for Norway some years ago, but seems to need a change to improve his career.

And. He's club Mjondalen has beaten Werder Bremen in the UEFA Cup at Weser Stadion. Back in the seveties, but still.....

Brighton is one of the most culturally diverse places in England, and the football team is now reflecting this with 10 different nationalites being represented

Not sure I agree. It is one of the most sexually diverse places in Europe and has a range of artist, musicians and actors etc. However if you look at the make up of the City it is mostly white middle class English people. I live in East London and it really shows Brighton up in terms of mixture of races, religions and nationalities.

So he is playing in a team he is better than and scored a decent amount in a team that struggled. I'm chuffed we're trialing him, hope he does well. Might add the 10-15 goals a season we need to clinch play off glory!

Yes and I want to support my local team without seeing them go bankrupt trying to buy English players.
I would rather see us do well in the leagues with some overseas input to the squad then plummet through them hemorrhaging money on some racist footballing campaign.

My strong desire for seeing english players is as partly driven my my disgust at what the number of foreign players in the Premiership has done to our national team's fortunes. It would be very wrong to start wanting loads of foreigners in a League 1 Club.

Sorry, "Racist footballing campaign"? How on earth can my comment be construed as racist? You are obviously not aware that a lot of ENGLISH players are actually not white? Are you suggesting it is racist to like Bobby Zamora?

If you want to know what racist is you should have been around in the 70s! I can remember Brighton fans pulling one another away from a fight with Mansfield supporters in the south west terrace at the Goldstone, because they all wanted to "split the ******'s lips", now that is racist!

Wanting "English players" (with no reference to colour or cread) to be the backbone of the Club, with a limited number of foreigners as well (of any colour or cread) has nothing what so ever to to with being racist you mug!
