So if we were to sign this player would that end the search for a 20+ goal striker? Im not so sure this player is any better then what we got!

But remember Gus is also trying to create a 'development squad' so maybe he wants a young striker with potential to bring on over the course of the season. Assuming Murray ,Barnes, and another 'proven' striker yet to sign are 1st team, that would leave Holyroyd, Barker + 1 other (Erik) for development?

"Brighton manager Gus Poyet has lodged a £50,000 bid for Norwegian striker Erik Midtgarden, 22, who plays for First Division side Mjondala.

Midtgarden played for Brighton in two friendlies before returning home, prompting Poyet to make a bid before taking his squad to Portugal"

£50k...no biggee then.
I didn't think very much of him at Eastbourne tbh, but then you can't really judge from 45 minutes of a friendly. If Gus thinks he's got something then fair enough.

I'd still be hoping for a more experienced striker though.

5 goals in 12 apperances for the team he plays for is not too bad. still think we will need a recongnised goal getter even if it costs us big.
