Really? I'm not being funny, but is it not embarassing? I suppose it's not really that different to being set up with someone but justs sounds embarassing to me, but I'm not dead against the idea.

Why would it be embarrassing? You only arrange to meet after you've been chatting to them for a while so it's not like chatting up a strange girl in a bar when it's mostly down to physical attraction. When you meet the bird from the net they already know you.
