Please please let there be lots and lots of snow. Preferably enough to totally screw up the trains so I can *ahem* work from home for a couple of days.

Ile do my best,we have been told at work to switch the trains into ice mode operation on sunday night and normally at the flick of a switch the train decides to have a nervous breakdown and fails to launch

Think about us poor guards then, on the platforms with 6 foot of snow!

Up here, snap is dialect for the contents of one's lunch box (I'm talking food here btw...)
people in Grimsby think they are being sophisticated by using the phrase "pack oop"

Phuey you have those lovely posh ankle length coats to shield you from the 2cm of snow, your more at risk from that blonde who drives the rubbish buggy at 45mph,than any form of precipitation. :lolol:

Wozzit min?
translates as "pack up" ie items of food rammed into a plastic container (used to be a tin in the old days). I remember having difficulties understanding the locals in Mansfield when BT decided to re-paint and re-wallpaper the directory enquiry call centre in Grimsby at the weekends back in 1998. We had to travel 90 minutes each way in a minibus over 8 weekends to do our 4-midnight shifts at Pelham Street.

When did 2 inches become "heavy" snow?

This is heavy snow in Brighton:-

At least it won't affect the football:-

Wow 2 inches. Oh no what are we going to do ?. Help. call the Army.

In the states and canada nad europe they get 10 inches of snow every night and go on as if nothing has happened. Here we may get 2 inches which is ramped up all week as some sort of extraordinary weather event. Expect the Daily Express headline tomorrow morning to be " Arctic condictions and blizzards sweeping in ".

I still predict we will get nothing at all in Brighton.

I think Kent will get most of it as it's coming from the East.

US - but your original angle was there was going to be no snow in Sussex, at least west of Hastings... are you backtracking now?

There have been reports of the odd flake from East Grinstead, Reading, Folkestone and a few other places.

The main precipitation is meant to arrive tomorrow morning, although they also mentioned a more organised period of snow here overnight tonight.

Here's the place to look for the arrival of the trough.

If your interested, this site allows us access to a network of private weather stations.. just click on them to get the current conditions. You may notice that out over Kent dew points are dropping off quickly, as the colder air digs in...
