Which paper? Because there is no mention of a fee in the YEP which, so far, is the only place carrying the story.

The full thing says "Albion will almost certainly hold out for a fee" and goes on to say about him being out of contract next summer etc.

Academic now... our board agreed to a get-out clause with no fee... what a buch of clowns they are sometimes... :dunce: :jester: * awaits flaming *

It baffles me that much of the comments on this thread are critical of Seb and that most seem fairly indifferent about him staying if we pick up a couple of hundred-thousand.

For this money, we will definitely not get a better player than him, even if the fee was available to be reinvested rather than go on judicial reviews - we were very lucky to find a player of his calibre in the first place.

Seb is one of the few Brighton players in recent years who has really got my old heart pumping watching him play, I guess if Brighton fans don't want him though, he is better off at Leeds :nono: :nono: :nono:

Certainly watching the Albion next season will be more boring without him - I'm absolutely gutted to be honest.

I'm not one for criticising the board but if there is no contractual obligation, I would be very pissed off with them if they voluntarily let him go for £200,000 - he could be a real match-winner/gamebreaker for us this coming season :(

Great post, LI... for once, I 100% agree with you!... unfortunately, the board seem to have fcuked-up big stylee on Seb's contract... clowns... :jester:

I always knew we'd only get one season out of him (contractually not performatively) and he was here to put himself in the shop window.

I can only remember one cross or corner from him that beat the defenders at the near post in the entirety of last season (Palace Away) and that is pretty poor for a specialist winger.

I have much more confidence in OGH's crossing and always have.

I reckon its because relegation came as a SURPRISE to the powers that be (they will never admit openly, even to Uberfans who they hob nob with).

I bet they thought we would stay up...just. So the clause was irrelevant.

Then MM fucks up big style and gets us relegated with his wonderful tactics, motivation, players out of position, fallings out etc etc and now it all comes out about the release clause...which I believe was denied at the beginning of the season?

Fruity could go for free aswell in that case.

Fcuking outrageous, isn't it?... and DK doing his Ad-man best doesn't change the fact that it is a major fcuk-up (again)...  :censored: :censored:

How can it be good business to pay for someone, pay his wages for a year, and then lose him for nothing?

Surely a 1 year deal would'e been better, then if someone offered and he decided to go we'd have been entitled to a fee.

Ah, well. Best of luck Seb.
Probably the most naturally talented player I've seen in the stripes, an absolute delight to watch at times. Let's just hope Fruity stays.

I have to say it is naughty to say the least that the release clauses for Seb and Alex only came out as Seb's transfer to Leeds was confimred... they new that it was a sh1t bit of negotiating so swept it under the carpet... Dick's spin on this today is a disgrace, and would only convince the very gullible...

WE WOULDN'T HAVE GOT THEM OTHERWISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would rather have had them for the one season than not at all. Can you not understand that they would have gone elsewhere without it?

Carole joins Leeds on free

Seb Carole is on his way to Leeds - without Albion receiving a penny for their talented French winger.

Carole is joining the Yorkshire giants on a free transfer, a blow softened for the Seagulls by their first signing of the summer.

They have snapped up former Cambridge United striker Alex Revell from non-league Braintree Town.

 :censored:  :censored:

Talk about the northern monkeys rubbing it in!

Yes, that's right, signing a player who wasn't good enough for Cambridge has really softened the blow of losing a player who many have described as one of the most gifted/exciting players they've seen in an Albion shirt for free. Northern C.unts.

I can understand that DK / MM / the board are unable to negotiate a good deal... and... calm down... you weren't in the room, nor was I... but the outcome is a disgrace, especially for a club that needs money so badly... as MP seemed so keen to point out as he pleaded for us to attend...

Wasnt there something about paying Caroles agent a six figure fee for when he signed for us?

Well they aint going to be shouting from the roofs that some of out players can have free transfers if we get relegated are they. That would be bloody stupid.

We may of had a clause that said if we stayed up Carole got improved terms and the release clause would be removed.

How is it? He would only join a Championship side and obviouly wanted it to stay that way?

Give him a relegation release clause yes but make sure you at least get something no matter how little.
