Ferdinand is wank

So Ferdinand may be slightly inconsistent. But wank he aint. He's an integral component of one of the best defences in the Premier League.

i may not be able to spell right but i know a good defender when i see one.....

oh no he plays for man utd doesnt he that means hes crap and im sposed to slate and hate him....

Nothing to do with him playing for Man United. I think Rio is at best the 4th best English central defender - that's why I wouldn't put him anywhere near my World XI.

He has lapses in concentration, has bad positioning skills and his attitude stinks. He's just one of the reasons that the best Man United can look forward to is winning the FA Cup.

I've always thought Rio was poor, I can't quite understand why he's been hyped in the way he has.

Is he? Are Man United watertight when he plays? Love to see some stats to prove that. I think that since he's joined, Man United have lost their reputation for being mean at the back. Without their quality upfront they would certainly have struggled even more the last couple of seasons.

People knock Neville because he is "a Neville" and we all hate Man U,but he has consistantly performed at ALL levels and is good going forward and defending.Ive hardly ever seen him have a bad game or make crucial errors.

He is dependable and that's what you need in a defender.

Certainly see Gary Neville in the team before Ferdinand

Agreed, but while Neville is dependable, surely there's someone better out there?

To be honest i havent realy seen that much of the first two,but ive seen Ferreria drop a few clangers and he's done nothing realy to stand out above Neville.

Not entirely sure about Ferreira but Zanetti is certainly above Neville.

My point was that you cannot overlook the importance of consistency and reliability. Which is why I don't think Rio belongs in this debate.

Vicente has barely played in the last year.

No way is Casillas better than Buffon
