Where have you been for the last 10 years? The Tories have been branded racists every time they try and bring up imagration. Its no wonder they stop trying to talk about it, Labour just smear them. Which was the plan all the time.

Absolutely spot on.

It is because of this that people are drawn to the BNP whom they (wrongly) believe can solve their problems.

I guess you won't be voting for one of the three main parties then. All of which support a globalist agenda.

I do hope the blaming darkies bit was not aimed at me. I don't support racism or fascism. I am a nationalist

I'll be voting for the Greens (with some reservations).

When you say "nationalist" do you mean "racial nationalist" or the more inclusive kind advocated by the SNP or PC ?

.....and when the Lib Dems bring it up they are accused of being loony left-wing idiots. You may agree with one particular side but it doesn't mean that the Tories and the right-wing press are not equally to blame. They are in equal amounts.

Have they been branded racists?

Or was it people within the party (and outside of it too) over-simply blaming society's ills on immigration thereby stifling a long-overdue debate?

Absolutely I have heard Galloway saying it (or certainly implying it) I have heard people calling the Conservative's "fascists" in general talk as I am sure most people have. It is utter nonsence and ludicrous and why we as a country have not had a proper serious debate about it.

I have just read that and most of what he states is absurd. This is laughable.

...

It is because every time on question time for example the moment that anyone mentions immigration control they are always shouted down...

haven't you just done EXACTLY the same thing :wozza:

You're holding up George Galloway as an example of moderate debate?

Bloody hell.

As someone who works in social housing, I can tell you for a fact that refugees do not just walk into properties.
I live in a flat that is owned by a housing association but rented out on the open market at the market rate on a short term lease , how would you suggest that the two gay polish men, and the congolese asylum seeker who goes back twice a year , and who are both tenants of the housing association( IE not on the open market)got into their flats, while my 50 year old cousin , is still living in what is a virtual cupboard at a friends house and is still way down the list, i'd like to see you explain about 'push and pull factors' and fair trade, to him.

No I am certainly not and you are deliberately taking it out of context.

If anyone accuses you of being a racist it is a terrible slur and the moment he calls anyone whom proposes some sort of immigration control a racist, people clap and mud sticks and the debate ends in a slanging match and there is no discussion on policies.

The debate on immigration has rarely been properly had because it's such a long, drawn out, almost unsolvable issue.

What doesn't help (and this is where the name-calling starts) is when someone kicks off the debate with an extremist, ill-though out viewpoint (someone will say 'close the borders, stop immigration' the next will say 'everyone's welcome'). There's no sensible debate to be had with that, and the likes of the Daily Mail or the two-bit drivel in The Socialist Worker really don't help one bit.

Somewhere in the middle there will be a broad consensus that has to be fluid in its resolution - there's no one-size-fits-all answer.

But it's good we're having the debate.

So the flat is rented on an open market and the Poles applied for it. How is that different from anyone else ?

Under the Asylum & Immigration Act 1999, asylum seekers have no right to assistance from local authorities.

Much accommodation for asylum seekers (those applying for refugee status) is therefore arranged on a 'no choice' basis through National Asylum Support Service (NASS) contracts. Only accepted refugees are in most cases eligible for social housing and for housing and other benefits.

I'm not part of the Galloway fan club but he actually called for a points based system (Morning Star, 12 February 2005).

Can one of the 'close the borders' lot explain to me what the government get out of this supposed bias towards immigrants? I haven't yet seen an explanation as to why the government would give a penthouse apartment to a couple of gay, Congolese criminals for free while making sure a law abiding, taxpaying citizen is made to live in a cupboard for £2000 a week.

BNP are not racist's, just standing up for what they believe in.

India would not tolerate millions of non-Indians taking over that society. Pakistan would not tolerate millions of Hindus or Christians entering that country and changing it from a Muslim society into something else. Japan would not do it; China would not do it, so why should Britain? Can anyone imagine Saudi Arabia allowing the mass immigration of Christians, so that in a few decades it would no longer be an Islamic country?

*sigh* And nor would we, which explains why 92.5% of the population is white.

Agree with this. I've often wondered how there can be any BNP supporters in 'leafy mid sussex' What immigrants have taken their jobs? Unless they had a job in an Indian restaurant.

They've taken up plenty of the scarce available housing though, and i know several people in Burgess Hill who will be voting for the BNP.
