I would have thought any poll of the professions most slagged off on this site over time would put journos top by a country mile.

I was once asked for some help by a traffic warden, if I had seen some car that drove off in a hurry - and told him to get a proper job that didn't involve inflicting misery on the general populace. 'Just go and make/do/create something'. He was a bit taken aback. They'd be top.

SOME solicitors are lazy, money-grabbing, good-for-nothing tossers.

And just anyone serving the public who clearly hates the public. f*** off and do something else.

All they do is cream off other peoples talents. Blood suckers. The world would be a better place without them.

I've actually seen a paranoia smiley knocking around somewhere - I'll put it here when I've found it. :)

How can they be wrong opinions when they are based on experiences? The dealings I had recently were not favourable - hiding problems with our buyer from our vendors estate agents, deliberately listing our old house as a semi rather than the end of terrace it was, always finding excuses not to do viewings themselves (I did 5 out of the 6 viewings myself and sold the house twice), worrying us for no reason several times, always "with a client" every single time I phoned them (once or twice, yes - 25 times, no), never phoning back until being chased several times and then taking £3000 for the priviledge of me selling my own home.

And the vendors solicitors put up a sold board on our property, without my permission, and then left it there for 2 months. It took 2 phonecalls and the thread of it going on a local bonfire before they finally collected it.

Not all estate agents are bad, I realise that. My sister is one and was shocked at the behaviour of this "big company". But it's not the odd incident - the majority of people have a horror story to tell.

The estate agent we bought from were so shit you wouldn't believe - a tale of half truths and dodgy ethics.

In fairness, we were very impressed with the estate agents we employed, but I've dealt several agents now and they are definitely in a minority.

That is the nub of it. You can say that it's not the individual's fault, and it's the way companies ask their staff to behave. That may be true - but over time certain people gravitate towards the profession.

There has been some very dodgy stuff going on over the sale of a house nextdoor to us recently - but I know the estate agent suppressed very important information (regarding our access) on the insistence of the vendor. Who is more to blame there?

I appreciate i worded my statement incorrectly no opinion is wrong, I'm sorry you had a bad experience, we're not all bad, and i'm sorry the 'solicitors' put a board in your garden! :lolol:

I knew what I meant! I would have needed a solicitor if I'd done with the board what I was planning to do to the estate agent in question.

The estate agent. He is happy to take his £5k for doing f*** all, and it is his job to act as the mouthpiece of the vendor. If it blows up in his face, he'd better f***ing NOT hold his hands up and say "nothing to do with us gov, we didn't know". He should take the responsibility. If there was an issue with access, he should find out and be up front with it to potential buyers. i.e. be HONEST.

But agents do wash there hands of these problems and it is this sort of thing that gives estate agents a bad name.
