Not going tonight, so watching on Sky. Literally ALL their build up is about Palace.

The fact that these people were vaccinated first means that they are the ones most in danger. By all means change the policy going forward, but for the 500,000 very vulnerable patients who have already had the first jab it's a huge abandonment of trust and a huge risk to their lives.

52%: https://www.bmj.com/content/371/bmj.m4826 And according to the manufacturers, there is no evidence it works at all beyond three weeks (so between weeks 3 and 12, the most vulnerable will be unprotected): They HAVE to complete the second doses within three weeks.

For the love of God, what fresh hell is this? They are cancelling appointments for the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine. There is absolutely no evidence of its eficacy after 12 weeks. Many more will die as a result. What a dereliction of trust this is - imagine the grief it's causing to those...

Well argued and I'm not saying it's not important, I just thought the coverage was over the top on a day when the figures were horrific.

Pretty sure 1,000 deaths in a single day is more newsworthy than 'Boris is sitting up in his bed'. I obviously don't wish him any harm, but the sycophancy from the BBC was out of all proportion on a day when a record number of deaths were recorded.

You are being very weird. It's pretty well known, and admitted by the government themselves, that they are only testing people who have been admitted to hospital. Look it up if you don't believe me. And maybe lay off the isolation beers a bit, eh?

Hmm. Not sure about that. As I say, at the moment they are only testing people admitted to hospital. If people die at home before they reach hospital, they won't have been tested. This could be significant if we ever get to the stage where they have to refuse to admit people who are unlikely to...

What a bizarre post! Where did I say they won't record a cause of death? I'm saying they won't be recorded as caused by the virus because they won't have been tested. So the deaths will most likely be recorded as pneumonia, as there will no evidence they were infected with the virus. Probably...

There has already been a lot of talk about over-65s just being offered palliative care at home when hospitals run out of beds. Also, only those with the most severe symptoms (extreme difficulty breathing) end up in hospital. As this escalates, it's very likely a lot of people will die before...

Another point worth considering is that death rates are for people hospitalised only. As the weeks go by, many people will die outside of hospital. These will not be recorded as C-19 related deaths. Nice way for the government to keep the numbers low, especially as the media will just say '1,000...

They are VIPs, obviously going to be tested. They are otherwise only testing people in hospital. Even people with serious symptoms are just told to stay at home without being tested. People are only being taken to hospital and being tested if they are having trouble breathing.

No-one knows. Without testing, it's impossible to even estimate. The figures are slightly misleading, as deaths were counted at 5pm yesterday, number of cases at 9am today. So the percentage may actually be slightly higher. At the moment, they are only testing people admitted to hospital - so...

The numbers do seem surprisingly low and no official update on the government website. Call me cynical, but I bet Dominic Cummings is doing everything in his power to fix the numbers so they don't seem too bad. Worst case scenario is we end up worse than Italy, then I think people would turn on...
