Update: I've found a garage that will fit a secondhand engine for around £1700.
Has anyone any experience or advice on this – is it too risky, or would you go for it?
My dilemma is whether this is better than buying another car (£4000 ish) or renting for a year (£4800ish).

Other than that, crack on...
Thanks for all the advice guys.
You've confirmed what I pretty much already knew, but it's good to know for sure.
Scarp value is probably the only answer. And yup Vegas Seagull, if it still moved I would stage an accident, but sadly not even that's possible now.

My car died on New Years Eve. Shit finish to a shit year.
Garages say engine is a write-off due to mechanical problems. One place hazarded a guess at £2500+ repairs, another said not to bother.
I paid £4200 for the car a year ago.

Live in a Muslim country, and our son's nursery just did a Christmas concert. Ok it was Santa and Rudolph songs rather than Jospeh and Mary stuff, but still there's ample tolerance over here. And when it was UAE National Day the other week, they all dressed in red white and green and did stuff...
FFS. It's simple. He's match fit but not fit in a way that means he could play a match. For that he needs to get fit by playing matches, but obviously he can't do that until he's fit in a match fit way. Which requires fitness. But not matches. They come later. But start first.

Not really a band, but I always loved Mary Margaret o'Hara's voice. Stunning, unique.
And then I saw her dance. Like an Energiser Bunny drunk on cheap vodka, constantly punching some invisible dwarf who is apparently trying to steal her mike stand. Kinda ruined the mystique. But still...

2010 World Cup. The most dispiriting and feeble performance England have ever put up. Has put me off following the national team for a LONG time.
Plus, as others have said, the ****ing vuvuzelas and generally uninspiring games.
Thanks for the help. I've done some more research:
"All new vehicles from all manufacturers imported into the UAE are required by law to have a 120km/h speed alarm. The dumb thing is, once they've been imported, there are no further checks to see if the alarm works, ever! So, many people go and...
