As opposed to pre-1066 when we were ruled at various times by Romans, Saxons (from what we now call Germany), Vikings and Celts?

    John Peel Day

I'm going to see Half Man Half Biscuit in Liverpool. Could there be a more John Peel sort of gig? I think not. True to form, it's not part of R1's Peel celebrations.

Panorama, BBC 1, 10.15. The Blairs.

Everyone: the "hot cross bun thing" NEVER HAPPENED. A newspaper wrongly reported that Liverpool council had banned hot cross buns in its schools. It didn't. That's it.

Why does everyone slag off England, even when they WIN?

Nope. Like I said, couldn't be ARSED.

Clubs you dislike for no apparent reason

Stockport County Newcastle United Both places I used to work. Don't know if that's the connection, though.

Why does everyone slag off England, even when they WIN?

I can't be ARSED following England at all. I feel represented by the Albion, not some bunch of overpaid primadonnas etc. But it appears the national team has scored more goals than the OPPOSITION, and seems to be on the road to QUALIFYING for the world cup. Isn't that GOOD?

great letter on page 10/11 of the Argus.........

No need! Upon reading your sensational headline regarding Osvaldo Ardiles and Diego Maradona being interested in investing in the Albion (The Argus, October 4), I feel it is necessary that, should John Prescott say "no" to Falmer, which I hope is unlikely, Brighton and Hove City Council should...

    [NSC] Is this Groundhog Day?

After 4 years on NSC I am personally starting to see the same old, same old regurgitating itself. Have we come to a crossroads in original topic threads?

    Soham Murdered Gets 40 Years

Ah, but if the intent is to cause really serious injury, then it's murder. Murder can be reduced to manslaughter on the grounds of provocation and diminished responsibility, so it doesn't necessarily mean accidental, or incidental, death.
  17. The Clown of Pevensey Bay

has NSC covered just about every topic we can?

Every time the adverts come on it's "Who killed the f**king Zutons". I'm not buying it on principle.

    Soham Murdered Gets 40 Years

Whether a killing is pre-meditated or not has bugger all to do with the difference between murder and manslaughter. There must be "intent to cause really serious bodily harm" on the part of the offender for murder to be proved (R v Moloney 1961, I think). No law as to when that intention must...
