    Lib Dem Conference, Brighton

Because "De Vecchi" has exactly the same cadence as -- and rhymes with -- "Bellotti", you can just sing all the old Bellotti songs but with her name in instead.

How can I work up £32 worth of enthusiasm for the Germans?

Our one is really complex. You have to nominate the two qualifiers from each group, and the one with most correct qualifiers wins. In the event of a tie, the person whose predicted tournament winner gets furthest in the competition is the winner. If it's still a tie, I haven't got a clue.

    Lib Dem Conference, Brighton

I agree. It's probably not that diplomatic for Dick and Martin to turn up as they did at the Labour conference. But we need to start doing things SOON like talking to the police to get permission for the march, designing leaflets, etc. Could this be organised under the auspices of a...

    Welsh language: what's the point?

My Welsh mate, big gay Dave, says Welsh borrows as many words from English as French does. Which isn't bad -- considering only about 200,000 people speak it as a first language.

    [NSC] Is this Groundhog Day?

After 4 years on NSC I am personally starting to see the same old, same old regurgitating itself. Have we come to a crossroads in original topic threads?
  6. The Clown of Pevensey Bay

    Lib Dem Conference, Brighton

To be fair, we've had so many "novelty" protests before (dressed as undertakers, that sort of guff) and it never works. This has got to be MAINSTREAM, it's got to be BIG, and it has to be COMPLETELY DIE-ON-ITS-ARSE PROOF

Lewes Dc Goes To High Court!!!!!! Important

They could potentially take the High Court's decision to the Court of Appeal (civil division), and then, if they were granted leave to appeal, the House of Lords. But the House of Lords has already decided its position -- and therefore the LAW -- on the matter (see Lord B's signature for more...

    Hypocrite ALERT!

Even as NSC's self-styled man of the people, I will admit to having gone to Old Trafford to watch a Champions' League match behind a glass screen once. And I never paid to get in or ANYTHING. Couldn't get a prawn sandwich, though.
  9. The Clown of Pevensey Bay

    Lib Dem Conference, Brighton

We must march on their conference in greater numbers than we have ever marched anywhere. This autumn's Liberal Democrat Conference is a more important target than Focus DIY, and more important target than Mellor. We were the first football supporters to march on London and we will be the first...

    Falmer was the wrong choice.

Threads like this are JUST what Lewes DC want to read. I'm normally more eloquent than this, but in simple terms: you're wrong. Go away please.

    Seagulls Party

It doesn't cost anything to stand as a candidate in a local election (you don't have to pay a deposit, as you do in Parliamentary elections). You just need a certain number of nominations which, quite frankly, can be pretty easily corralled in any pub on one evening.
  12. The Clown of Pevensey Bay

    Seagulls Party

Further thoughts on campaign tactics. We should do as the Lib Dems do, and parachute activists in from EVERYWHERE to campaign in the most marginal seats. A lot of local Liberal Democrats will travel for miles to drop leaflets in other parts of the UK. The ones I know are almost...
  13. The Clown of Pevensey Bay

    Seagulls Party

Perfectly legitimate. But "instructions on how to register your self to vote at your mate's address in Lewes" would be a bit, er, against the law. Why can't the Seagulls party put candidates up against overtly anti-Stadium candidates in Brighton & Hove, or other parts of Sussex?

    Seagulls Party

The only time I've given money to a political cause was when Ken Livingstone was trying to get elected as London mayor the firrst time round (when he was an independent). And to be honest it was only about twenty quid. While I'm not Lewesian in anyway and therefore can't stand, I'd happily give...
