Do we want to target the Carling cup? Or promotion?

I do worry about reaching the Premiership in the very near future for a couple of reasons. I think it will be too soon for our squad and a year or two fighting it out at the top half of the Championship while we slowly build and strengthen our squad would not be a bad thing. Then there's the...

Do we want to target the Carling cup? Or promotion?

Don't believe we have any serious chance of getting to the final, let alone winning the League Cup. Also don't think we'll get promoted but that isn't going to stop me enjoying the wonderful ride we're currently on.

    Calderon DIVED.

Indeed. Very disappointing. Think he may have just been put off by the defender in front of him and so he chose to try a win a pen. Shame

Indeed I don't think there will be any trouble with Palace selling out this one.

Some Sunderland views on last night

Agree it was good to hear them read out the away following and allowed a nice bit of mutual clapping from both sides. Before that I think Sunderland fans were about to take the piss for a 17k crowd, but then they heard their figures and started clapping. It's a shame the away end extras don't...

And you aren't very bright. As Herne Hill above me says, we still got 18k for a League 2 game in the first round and it wasn't a local derby either. It was the 4th for most people at the stadium so hardly a reason for people flocking there just to see it again

Now that would be FANTASTIC. Still can't believe after last night's performance, we still didn't have Buckley or Hoskins involved and KLL and Harley still aren't completely match fit.

    Congratulations to the ticket refuseniks.

And it's not as if the club KNEW we were going to win and it was going to be a great night. It was pot luck how the game would pan out but it just so happens it was a cracker, could easily have been very shit

    Congratulations to the ticket refuseniks.

But as Lush said, the two are linked.

Haha, I wouldn't trust that he got it right on his own merits though. He probably did think it was a penalty but didn't have the bottle to give it. Shame to see Calderon do it I agree

    Ryan Harley

Has got that creative spark that we seemed to be lacking in midfield. He will really make things happen for us and I can't wait to see him play again. Great debut when not fully fit or settled and against a Premiership team. Fantastic signing and cheap as chips. Perfect

Having just seen BoF's clip on another thread it was clearly a DIVE. No question in my mind, zero contact from the keeper. Sorry @Easy 10 and @Twinkle Toes but I think you're mistaken this time.

I would guess that'd be it, but maybe Calderon centre back instead of Painter as per last night Suffered a flare up of the injury after the Cardiff game and so hasn't been ready to play again.

*** the official what time did you get home tonight thread ***

A lot of people wouldn't then be able to make it for 7pm and the trains would surely struggle to cope with fans trying to get there right through rush hour?

Oh. I will have to seek out another replay as at the time I said dive, and seeing a replay on the big screen at half time it looked a dive too. Lots of people adamant it was a pen though so maybe a trip to the optician in order for me

Their best chances were the one in the opening minutes which he had no excuse for not even getting on target, and then a free header from a corner in the second half.

    Arsenal agree fee with City...

They're stagnating in that they haven't gone forward or progressed as a club for years and years. City on the other hand are building something to actually take them into the realms of the top European teams (albeit by spending vast sums of cash). Arsenal are still a top club, but any of the top...
