Got Marathon News through this morning. Sadly (yeah, right!) I've been rejected.
I ran in 2009 - the hardest event I've ever done. Put the miles in and you'll get round. 1 long run a week (up to at least 20 miles), building distance by no more than 10% a week and the hardest bit - actually...
Start list for today: (Times are BST+1)

Has SB noted (and picked) the magnificently named Bob Jungels? He's number 18.
Nice to see 2 National Champions jerseys cross the line with their arms aloft in the capital city. Sadly I only saw the men's race on tv from work, but was in town early for the women's brutal race - full gas from the off, attacks most laps but nothing getting more than 15 seconds and nothing stuck.
Especially after Cav went from so far out. Viviani covered the last 400m about a second faster than Cavendish, who had time to look for him before squeezing him into the gutter. Not particularly good sportsmanship and he's been relegated for less, but that's racing.
Breakfast - as normal
En route - 1-2 bottles of water
Finish - bottle of water, cup of tea, bit of cake
Generally, ride faster and be home for lunch.
Old school!
Anyone want to buy a bike? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Retro-classic-vintage-Record-Breaking-Brian-Rourke-time-trial-memorabilia-/181215414772?clk_rvr_id=520287976178
It'd be perfect for a fixie-conversion/polo-bike....
Eh? The whole "The Beatles are the greatest band of all time" thing is weird. It reduces every other musician ever to 'yeah, but they weren't as good as the Beatles'. It also suggests that there's an aim in music to be as good as the Beatles, despite the 50+ years of worldwide musical culture...
I wouldn't put them anywhere. I wouldn't compile the list. I simply don't know enough music to do so, and I doubt many people do. There are far too many variables, especially socially over time, to fairly compare across eras (even if you quantify what is meant be 'greatness' anyway). What's the...
No - you're confusing 'greatness' with 'popularity' again.
You could say that her 'best' work is greater than their 'best' work. Both of them are beaten by Shania Twain, by the way... (Michael Jackson's Thriller is top of the list)
Just because something is claimed doesn't make it true. I'm certainly not saying the Beatles had no influence; just that it's the done thing to name-check certain things rather than others. It's also difficult NOT to be influenced by musical culture (however good or bad it is).
Sales figures are measurable, but only in terms of popularity. Number of songs written is measurable, but the quality of said songs is not. Influence and new ground broken is subjective.
Having a quick look on Wikipedia the Beatles have the highest overall sales figures. For individual albums...
Many people have said that there probably isn't one, and others have said you need to define what is meant by 'greatest' before you can start 'measuring'.
As an alternative I'll offer the E Street Band based on longevity, technical proficiency and funkiness. They aren't the greatest band of all...
Music did not start with the Beatles. It certainly didn't end with them. I wouldn't class them as the as-yet-undefined 'greatest'. Of course they were influential, but they were also influenced by the music produced before them (like everyone else will always be). There is no single greatest...
No mention of our World Champion's first (and likely only) win in the rainbow jersey? Chapeau Philippe. It's nice to see it getting the respect (and podium time) it deserves.
How?!?! If you do 'just get a new bike' make sure the old one is sent somewhere for repair - it won't take much to turn it into a usable bike for someone (even if you just freecycle it). There are probably charities out there locally that do this.
It's only fair that Theo gets a mention. Not conclusive, but flagged anyway.
