I know where you're coming from, but disagree. It hurts, makes you feel sick and questions your love of the sport, but for every cheat caught there's a kid somewhere who didn't get the contract.
Why? VED is based on the CO2 emissions of the vehicle. As others have already stated this doesn't take into account the actual emissions, which only come from the amount the vehicle is driven. There's already government manipulation of fuel price for users they consider to be of national...
How many crashes are caused by people going too slowly? Maybe there's a very good reason for driving at that speed that you're unaware of (poor visibility, bad road conditions, vehicle limitations, vulnerable road users, etc).
Or time for drivers to take responsibility for their actions, not risk other people's lives to save 5 seconds of their journey and drive to the conditions?
I haven't attributed blame at all, but I defy you to end up under a car without it driving over you (whoever was at fault). All I said is that it is better for vehicles not to drive over people than it is for people to have to wear protective items 'just in case'. I assume you don't wear a...

Any chance the Met can focus on the problem of dangerous driving that's actually killing people, rather than being the fashion police? Or is that out of their remit now? FFS!!!!

Most of the time, in most places it's...
This isn't preventing uninsured drivers taking to the road though - it's simply catching them when they do and are unlucky enough to be near a police car. Many people (1.2m nationwide) think it's worth the risk as the penalty for being caught is clearly not a deterrent.
Training and licenses haven't stopped drivers crashing into things.
If you want to do cycle training then it's available through your local council: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/roadusers/cycling/11689.aspx
