Which race are you doing?
The training really is all about consistency. Preparation really is the key - if you're not ready you'll suffer. You've got plenty of time though, so start now and build up sensibly. It's not about going fast, just about making the cut-offs. I'd definitely recommend...
You'll be fine with #42 - it isn't a bike race. In a bike race if you're the fastest on a bike you're the winner. When there's swimming and running too the fastest on the bike is not necessarily the winner, ergo not a bike race. They're probably also right about the 'only swim to avoid drowning'...
He missed out pavement cycling, helmets, wearing black and the use of lights. Also he forgot that cyclists hold drivers up whilst speeding past them. He got the 'undertaking' in, but forgot to mention how cyclists never use cycle lanes.
4/10
I've just put my team in - and again Billy Bonnet couldn't be overlooked! This 'knowing nothing' approach is loads more fun than research!
Am I right is assuming we're Purist only after the start of the race? If any riders drop out pre-race we can replace them, non?
Good stuff. I'm in for the purist this time I think - it'll save me having to guess which 3.0 riders I've never heard of are likely to be good on any particular day... I'll just choose the ones that are the best all-rounders. Oh, wait...
As we're looking at 2014 team kit...

SO much wrong with this - it's a cut and shut with celeste bar tape!
New bike, anyone?

Sydney benefits from having a better venue than London. The Harbour, with the bridge gives so much scope for displays. It's a bit of a shame they tend to do the same sort of thing every year though. London's getting a bit tired with the wheel too - Tower Bridge would be my stage of choice but...
Welcome to geekery! :)
As SB said there are plenty of off-roaders about who'll know more than us roadies (in this specific case only, mind!). Cycling really is horses for courses (and yes - EVERYTHING is different), so get the right bike for the type of riding you'll be doing on that particular...
How would it work with merged threads? What if users on one thread-starter's ignore list start a similar thread that is then merged with the original? Which takes priority? What's to stop someone with a clear ignore list restarting threads to ensure everyone has a voice (other than loads more...
It depends on how they died, and who they were. If a spectator is killed by something central to the event (eg a car crashes after a loss of control at high speed) then changes need to be made. If a runner dies whilst taking part it can be said that they took the risk with the knowledge of the...
Theatre audiences are a bit odd though. In the summer we had a fire alarm go off mid-performance - flashing lights and audible evacuation announcements in the auditorium, fire brigade arriving with bells and whistles, the works. Nobody moved, and afterwards the only comments were along the lines...
NIMAX (the owners) don't have a great reputation in the West End for the quality of their buildings. I have a feeling that everyone will be getting builders in in the new year...
TfL's plan for London: http://www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/roadusers/central-london-grid.pdf
It seems that it's essentially 'do nothing', but it *could* be brilliant.
By "No notice" does he mean "at least 1 weeks notice"? It's not uncommon for there to be rail works over the Christmas period - it's sensible as there are fewer users so fewer people are inconvenienced.
We could set up a Velogames league too for purist teams for the Grand Tours, and allow those who want to tinker every day to do so on the road.cc league. I realise I'm probably making the situation worse rather than better by creating a separate team to be concerned about, but I'm an ideas sort...
Newton's Theory of Gravity is not "wrong". Einstein expanded it to cover things Newton didn't know about - the fundamental parts of Newton's Theory are still used because they are correct, and essentially identical to Einstein's when applied for 'everyday' use. Even Einstein's Theory breaks down...
