Not being rude mate, but Palace have finished 'top 10' in the Premier League twice in the entire history of humanity. Both times 10th, which is the lowest you can be and still be in the top 10. Last season was your best ever in the Premier League in terms of finish, points and goals scored - this is your absolute peak. And it's still a long way off our best season.
All that said, I actually think Palace and Parish have done a pretty good job, given the resources they have - I think you do really well identifying a gem or two every season and surely that isn't just spawny luck. All in all, fair play Palace. And I hope you have an absolutely horrendous season, finishing just outside the relegation zone despite having the fewest goals scored all season. x

I (occasionally) quite enjoy your contributions on here (shame we can't post on your board - I guess the mods there couldn't face any critisism) but your post above is so full of
that I have to respond.(1) We agree
(2) Last season is the last time I'm going to Selhurst (been going since the 70s)
It's just an awful experience. Cramped seats, restricted views, concourses that are so squashed it's dangerous, and the toilets should be condemmed.
Add in the 'holding-back and being kettled to the station and it's just 100% rubbish (I know that being held back possibly only applies to us)
The fact that your new stand is almost 100% the same as our West Stand (well it will be when it actually gets built) it appears your club are trying to copy our ground (which you say isn't better than yours.....)
When it's finished, the AW will still be there - decrepid and dangerous.
(3) Market value of ours compared to yours.
(4) How much does Parish take out? How much has he put in?
Incomparable when compared to Bloom.
Add in, we don't have 'partial' American owners (who want out anyway)
Our owner doesn't move longstanding STH (without consultation with said STHs) to make way for the AUs
(5) Everyone knows how well our club is run and what Bloom's long term stratergy is with regards to talent spotting, and from where that information and data comes from. Parish doesn't have that data.

I am not saying Selhurst is a better stadium although I personally love it, the thought of moving away from the place it is now fills me with terror, it’s in the heart of the community easily assessable for busses and 3 mainline railway stations, it’s my history and the clubs.
Now I am fully aware that the Goldstone was sold under your feet and there was not much you could do about it, but how many of you would still love to play there in a re- vamped stadium??
For many younger fans of not only palace but other teams who don’t know the history, for many the AMEX is an out of town hard to get to ground.
And just a quick reminder back before the premier league there was a competition called the football league , palace have finished the 22 team league in 3rd and 10th ( 10th being top half)

Interesting thought. I found my mind wandering on the that. They would probably have had to buy the road behind the South Stand and somehow create a West Stand/North Stand curve. But let's say all that was possible, I'm sure folk would have liked that as a central location over Falmer.
But to quote our previous pitch side overlord 'It is what it is'. And we're happy. I agree that Palace should re-develop Selhurst where it is. If it doesn't need moving then don't move it.

Yes football seemed fair back then, Palace, Norwich, Ipswich and QPR and such like had a chance those days sadly gone.

Yep, let's be honest, if we could somehow have built the Amex at the Goldstone (in the same way White Hart Lane was rebuilt) with the same facilities it would have been amazing - just imagine those 12 coach trains and we might have redeveloped Hove Station whilst we were at it. Walkable for many, more parking (although I expect residents parking restrictions would have come in) and plenty of bus options. Obviously it was never a viable option either at the time or when we were looking for a stadium so it's a void argument.

Well, yes. The Goldstone had 30,000 crowds in the 70s so would have coped without huge change. I wasn't a fan of having a ground at Falmer, but it was the only viable option and now its home. And it's a nice home. I don't miss the Goldstone, but I wouldn't mind being dropped back in the late 70s to take a walk down the Old Shoreham Road for the smell of smoke, the stench of the loos, the stale crisps and the weak Bovril, and the over cozy East Terrace. A cold and wet Tuesday evening, soaked to the skin. Maybe Walsall at home in 1976. Wardy and Spider running riot in the mud.
