I had a very good minted lamb burger the other day at The Royal Oak in Poynings. Nick Berry was in the pub at the time- for what its worth!

Had one at Macclesfield a few years ago (the day after england beat scotland at hampden).

We drew with Macc and I think Mayo scored the equaliser late on.

anyway had a burger and then 4 hours into the journey home it hit me. Was locked in a coach loo with a might deluge coming from both ends. Coach loo sinks are not made to cope with vomit!!

That's you banned from any coaches that I may organise in the future :lolol:

The drivers would have had to clean that up!

You are of course, all wrong. The worst burger you can consume is on the Virgin train line from Victoria to the Lake District. The best burger you can consume is The Trolls Pantry in Brighton. Grubbs is good too.

Talking about burgers, just got back from New York this morning, and I had the best burger in Applebees, on Broadway and 50th street.

You should try Diner in Brooklyn. Or if in Berlin, Hamburg or Jackson Hole The Bird.

What about the old Goldstone Ground ones where they were boiled and were utterly tastless plus made the bun fall apart due to all the bolied water going out during each bite

Haven't had one there, but I bet if I had it would have been at The Amex judging by the pies lately!

I like McDonalds burgers, but they're not real burgers. They look like burgers, and kind of taste like burgers, but they have so much sugar in the buns that they're more of a beef cake. Tasty though.
Yes, they are not real burgers, my kids eat them thats their choice, i personally failed to taste any meat in them at all,but then i dont buy frozen too. Butchers for me, hand made i can taste whats in them.

This is exactly what happens to the Falmer hot dog buns.

Some of the worst burgers i've had from a "chain" outlet have been from Quick who operate in France and Spain. The best, Wendy's who alas pulled out of the UK but are the No.3 (company wise) in North America after MacDonalds and Burger King. Wendy's always offered a choice of toppings or even allowed you to have all of them.

I remember those, they were hideous but still felt a safer bet than the pies.

Does anywhere still sell "boily burgers"? Last had one at 2am from a dodgy little cart in Newcastle about five years back, but not sure if the purveyors of said filth are still plying their trade. If anyone fancies asking one of the travelling Toon fans tomorrow, it could be a delightful conversation-starter.

I'm a big fan of Grubbs - particularly the Tropical with extra chilli sauce - but haven't come across The trolls Pantry. I feel I need to. Where is it?

Boy oh boy are you in for treat
The Trolls Pantry

Also, it's opposite the rear entrance to the Blind Tiger pub. If you buy a drink in the pub they'll let you eat your fayre in the pub. Go for the 1/2 lb burger. Empirical evidence from myself and @ TheDonkeyCentreHalf demonstrates that any size smaller and the meat is drowned out by the other fillings. We went through this for your benefit. Thanks heavens for altruistic people like us eh?

I am forever in your debt. Thank you for trialling this for me, you always go the extra mile.

Looks like tomorrow evening's food is sorted then. What beers have they got in The Blind Tiger? That's the place that used to be called Hector's House isn't it?

In August 1994, I had a burger from Star Burger in Haywards Heath. Within an hour it came back up (no alcohol required).

Blind Tiger is not brilliant for draft beers but they have a few nice bottles. It's a nice vibe in there though. Yes, nee Hectors House. Trolls is a little van in the wood yard and sadly its only open 11am until 3pm Mon to Sat.

The Trolls Pantry hands down is the best burger ive ever had and will be going there post-match tomorrow !! Grubbs come a close second.

Worst ive had to to Burger King at Victoria station - had to get a couple from in there as i needed something to eat whilst in a rush for a train - they are consistently cold.

Most annoying burger concept is Gourmet Burger Co. I've been to a number of places which sell excellent burgers and just get on with the job of making and selling decent burgers in half decent surroundings ie they don't have posh venues and prefix their name with Gourmet or Real or Posh. Trolls being a perfect example.
