Of course it's a possibility but you can't just refuse to take it at face value, people with fanatical beliefs are also capable of doing a bit of graffiti so to dismiss it outright & say it wasn't what it says it was it was somebody else is a cop out

I said 'I believe'... I didnt dismiss it outright..I didnt say it wasnt...its my belief that this was most likely done by a rightwinger.
EDL have a track history of ratcheting up the tension in periods running up to their demos.. Both Tommy Tango, and his cousin have been 'attacked' by 'armed groups of muslims' just before demos....
They peddled a lie about a child being raped just before the Newcastle demo, and just before their Whitehall demo...Islam is scrawled on a monument...convenient timing again.
I imagine there is cctv in the area, so, im sure it will come out either way, but sorry, i think these people are very capable of doing it, so think taking it a face value is also a cop out.

I might look elsewhere for lessons on patriotism.

Any chance of getting back to the actual point? Holding a civilized dialogue like this mosque has done is absolutely the correct solution to any problems, to try and promote the fact that, ultimately, all people are people and that's the end of it. Oh yes, there are good people, bad people and inconceivably horrible people (terrorists fall into this last group), but those distinctions exist within every race, gender, religion, sexual orientation and grouping of people that's ever been.
Yes, there are people doing terrible, terrible things in Islam's name, but there are people doing terrible things in the name of everything else as well. How about we try and get rid of just the people doing these terrible things, and leave everyone else alone? Doesn't that seem nicer?

Isn't it just.... remember 'fondly' trying to get back to the St Johns from the Uni via Tang Hall at 1 am....
Yet the mosque has 'survived' there for nearly 30 years.... a miracle in itself.

The situation did not need ratcheting up, somebody had just been mowed down & beheaded on the streets of the capital but then if it wasn't for the fact it was being screamed down your tv & into your face you'd probably still be questioning the "motives" behind that.

Like I said, im sure there is cctv in the area, and from my experience watching these people, its a common theme...something always sensational happens just before their demos.....the motives behind the murder...was a radical Islamist...somebody the Security services seemed to have missed...However, when you have the government, and community leaders all calling for calm, the scrawling of Islam on a war memorial seems a bit too convenient for my liking. We will have to wait and see if anybody is arrested.

I know that is far from an exhaustive list but nice to see no Brighton or Hove addresses on there, and in fact from a quick scan only one Sussex address, in Bexhill. Says a lot about their decision to march down here every year.
