Would I fight for the monarchy and the current state of politics/politicians? Absolutely no. Would I fight for democracy, absolutely yes, for that reason only, I’d join.

Whilst I haven’t agreed with either major party for the past 20 years. I very much value the ability to discuss politics in the public without looking over my shoulder.

I'd stay & fight and send my kids abroad.
They're better at Call Of Duty (I don't know how to play it), we're all unfit, we'll all be shit. They are the future though.
Sorry if I trigger anyone as I know that people on here have had some tough times with this sort of scenario as (sort of), I have, but the natural order of life is that your kids shouldn't die before you.
They can go & do the 'internet' war which will be just as (if not more) important. Think kind of Enigma code rather than bots on twitter.
They know how to use my phone better than I can, but I can beat them at 'paintball'
I'm their parent, it's my job to protect them to the best of my ability & has been since the day they were born.

Really depends on the context. If it really meant fighting for freedom, true democracy and defending my family, friends and fellow countrymen I would fight to the death. If it involves fighting wars for the 1% to profit from Oil, Gas and rare earth mineral interests etc then count me out.

Apart from being probably too short sighted for a call up, the slightly cowardly but honest truth is that I'd look to leave before bearing arms.

The reason for that is that I have no desire to fight for a political establishment that has generally treated my generation badly over time (removing the right to a free higher education, cutting of various youth services when I was younger, Brexit, highest taxes ever on us now as working people).

Given the lack of national pride younger people now have about Britain, I think any mass conscription attempt of young men would probably be a bit of a shit show.

Yes I’d stay and fight, the thought of that happening and not doing anything about it just wouldn’t be an option. I’d be absolutely sh***ing myself no doubt but I’d do it.

Been some debate on other threads about going to war and would you serve.

Hypothetically putin has sent troops over and is looking to take Sussex.

You are given a choice, with 30 minutes to decide.

The choice is:

1) Yes. stay and fight for your county and country. Your family goes abroad.

2) No. Go abroad with your family to safety and a new life. You may never return.

Be honest.
If it was an invasion yes
If it was overseas no

In this hypothetical situation, you'd be fighting for the people though surely, not the political establishment

Go abroad?

Who’d have me?

It’s rather obvious. I’d tell the kids to leave if they wanted while I rummaged around in the shed for a pitchfork.

As others have said, depends what we are fighting for and what’s at stake, but 30-minutes until Putin’s knuckle dragging army are here? Sounds like a foregone conclusion. I’m in.

(I’d be dead in the first wave though.)

I imagine the Britain that followed might be a different place.

Although under the scenario scoped out it would probably be a defeated and flattened one as Putin is about to invade so has clearly taken Germany, Poland, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, and enough of Northern France or Finland, Sweden and Norway.

What you have managed to do @dwayne is set up a poll asking if you would fight for your country and then give a completely different hypothetical question of whether you would fight for your freedom. Which question would you like people to answer, as I suspect I'm not alone in having very different answers to those two questions :dunce:

I guess it's a natural talent you have

Not for my country, but for a belief.
If I believe that my only course of action, depending on circumstances, was to fight, then I would fight.
I have never run from a fight.
