Pleased for him. Really want to see more of him... Starting place me thinks. Has an eye for goal, gets in some great positions, just needs a regular starting place.

Great goal and played well when he came on. Very dodgy boots though. And Hammond for that matter!

Yup. His performance today convinced me that we now have the right team.
Flog off CMS and get the Spanish Argie geezer up to speed asap.
It's a rare synchronicity that brings together the team, management,
board and supporters at one place and time.
15 minutes of Hoskins today was just one such experience.
Like a spiritual orgasm.
Erm... - I think I've just had a Glenn Hoddle moment.

Tactics - Ali's rope a dope, Brian Clough's team-building genius.
A well balanced team consists of four violinists and seven roadsweepers.
A team of individuals is not a team.
But the boots, dodgy or not, must surely be a sign.
Yes. It's the boots. It's the boots.
Hoskins has given the answer.

what a load of rubbish being posted on here Hoskins took his goal very well but his general performance was poor and we as a team looked worse for having CMS subbed as such I would expect CMS to keep his place and Hoskins to be on the bench or possibly start alongside CMS but not replace him.

Absolutely spot on.

He came on against a team with 10 men, who were tiring and lack any talent at all. But he looked sluggish and disinterested to me. There were a lot of groans when he didn't bother closing someone down who walked past him, and rightly so. CMS did the leg work so he could come on and get the sort of chance CMS is rarely provided. His finish was fantastic and we're all really pleased for him but the blinkers NSC has for him are clearly at work here.

Depends what you want from your forwards? Hoskins should have tracked back in the instance that was mentioned earlier but it's quality in the final third that wins you matches not work rate.

This. CMS wouldn't have scored that, simple as that.

Well, how did you react? When Hoskins let the guy go and decide not to work hard, despite only being on for a few minutes. All I am saying is, good finish deffinitely. But it was a very easy game to come on in, but he did very little work and even less to suggest he should oust CMS from the team. But NSC has decided Hoskins is brilliant, based on nothing.

Even then you couldn't help but mention Ernest. You've got one gag, let it go.

CMS and Hoskins are Gus's players he wanted from day one, he'll be wanting both scoring and supporting each other in doing well, add in a beast up front and we have a good front line.

Let's all give our players the credit they deserve rather than f***ing bitching about certain players. Best albion manager and team IN YEARS.

Sadly for CMS, this. I thought CMS looked thoroughly pissed off at the service he was receiving quite a few times.

He might be and I feel sorry for him sometimes but Hoskins, in his brief appearances, does seem to have a knack of getting in scoring positions. Which suggests its not ALL about the service - the intelligence of the runs makes a difference too...

You're saying work rate is not a factor of winning games? I've heard it all :ffsparr:

You've never played the game sonny, clearly. Work rate is nice and all that jazz, but it's scoring goals that counts. You can let people run past you and not put in a shift if you score a goal.

I specifically said forwards, so whilst work rate is a huge factor in winning games you would rather your front players have quality in the final third.

I would love Hoskins to hare around the pitch like CMS but I would rather he concentrated on his first touch, movement off the ball and finishing.

Look at the best strikers around bar Tevez none of them track back like CMS and thats not knocking him as it's a fantastic quality, but I want more than that from my front men.
