Why did you start supporting Brighton?

I was asked if I wanted to go to the Goldstone. I thought that if I nicked this "stone of gold" I would be rich.

Lying bastards.

I started playing football when I was 5 or so and they where/are my local club. Quite miraculous as even at that time ( mid 70's) my cousin and freinds who got me involved all supported Manure and Liverpool

also in my youth it was higly attractive, we where quality :clap2:

Lord B do you still support Birmingham? And where did you live in Italy?
Certainly when they are playing the Villa - and usually getting comedy victories.

I discovered that I'd finally exorcised most of the Birmingham heritage when the Albion played them in the Worthless Cup at the Goldstone in 1996. Despite what I thought was a valiant attempt to shout "Come on you blues!" from the North Stand (quietly), I found myself mightily pissed off at the defeat. It was, of course, only August and I hadn't realised at the time that there would be plenty more defeats in 1996/97 and that 0-1 wasn't a particularly bad result for the Albion.

As for Italy ... a place called Montalcino, just south of Siena.

Being from south Kent my first game was against the scousers in 1984 as a Liverpool fan.I realised then that I was supporting the wrong team and that i should forget county boundaries and support my nearest big club.

The love affair is stronger now than ever.

My family moved into a house on Old Shoreham Road in January 1972, having spent some years abroad. I was thrown straight into a promotion campaign, big crowds, dramatic late goals, the victory against Villa. Hooked for life.

As soon as I heard such a team exsisted when I was 11. That same year we were champions of Div3, or was that the next year?

In my single (as in age) years, I didn't know any team below the Premeirship.

That was more or less my excuse, except it was a road off the Old Shoreham Road and it was February.

What a good season that was to move house..

I moved from Rainham in Kent (I was a Gilllingham supporter) to Worthing where I found my nearest team was Brighton - a bigger and better club than Gillingham so I started supporting the Albion.

I lived in East Grinstead in the 1970's when I started following the Albion. As EG is roughly halfway between Brighton and Palace, I more or less had a choice between the two I suppose. not difficult was it?

Once I set foot inside the Goldstone that was it, hooked for life. Even if the Albion had gone under in the dark days of Archer and Bellotti, I couldn't see myself ever having the same passion for any other club.
