No where have I said or implied rules are rules. What I've said is that you're challenging the wrong people. If I don't agree with a law it's pretty much a waste of time challenging it with my local beat bobby - I need to go further up the chain.

Unfortunately there's plenty of people who attend Withdean who blame the rules on the stewards rather than the rule makers. It won't change the rules by winding up or being bloody minded with the stewards.

I agree there are double standards and there shouldn't be. Part of it is the sheer praticality of policing it. Chuck out an away supporter and that's all that happens - chuck out a home supporter who refuses to sit and there's a reasonable chance the club will have their name and address and ban them or remove their season ticket. Is it right - NO, are the stewards to blame - NO, is consistant standing going to change the rules - NO, is a concerted campaign via the club, FA, League and your MP going to change the rules - unlikely but it's much more possible via those channels than steward baiting.

If that's pompus then so be it - if you read back you'll note you were the first one to start the insults calling me pompus ( it's hardly a compliment ! ) - not that I care what you think of me anyway.

Westdene, you are an intelligent person.:bowdown:
Pity there aren,t more on here that put brain into gear before opening trap.

Finally, a little more civil this time, at least you're not behaving like a prick this time. All of what you're saying is technically right. But that's the f***ing problem isn't it? Technical. Legal. Rhetoric. All words that describe your ramblings. What it badly needs is a large dose of reality or common sense. Otherwise, why do Brighton fans get chucked out at home and away for standing? But other clubs have large standing sections at home and when they visit Withdean that go unnoticed? The stewards turn a blind eye to "the law" that's why. And the reason for that is because in life there are laws worth enforcing and there are those that are petty, even in the opinion of the law enforcers. That's why they're not enforced all the time. So it seems that Withdean stewards apply a common sense approach in some sections but sheer idiocy in others e.g. threatening the fan who turned around in his seat to start a song the other week whilst sitting down. And many other such instances over the years. I've even had stewards apologise for others in this respect. So they're condoning their own collective idiocy at times.

Remarkable !!!! You do know the word what the word civil means don't you ? Words and phrases such as prick and and collective idiocy aren't normally considered civil - nor is the word pompus !!!!

I frankly don't believe that a fan was threatened just for turning round in his seat to start a song - for starters the stewards don't threaten - they tend to politely ask. Secondly I would guess the person stood up to start the song but then that wouldn't suit your flawed arguement would it ?

You clearly have a chip on your shoulder about the stewards - you've managed to avoid commenting at all on the appropriate method of trying to get the rules changed.

It's quite a simple idea - all seater stadia require you to SIT in your seat.I'm really not sure how you fail to understand that ?

Have you complained to the club about the stewarding ? Or complained to the FA /League or your MP about the laws enacted after the Taylor Report - thought not - you're just a load of hot air looking to moan and bash the club at any opportunity.

Remarkable !!!! You do know the word what the word civil means don't you ? Que? Words and phrases such as prick and and collective idiocy aren't normally considered civil - nor is the word pompus !!!! Well, thought I'd have some fun and come down to your level. Great innit?!

I frankly don't believe that a fan was threatened just for turning round in his seat to start a song - for starters the stewards don't threaten - they tend to politely ask. Secondly I would guess the person stood up to start the song but then that wouldn't suit your flawed arguement would it ? Listen 'Frankly'. Don't let facts stand in the way of your 'perceived what happened' take on events will you?!! What a chimp. Go find the thread on this a few weeks back. I have witnessed several instances equal in pettiness as I said. Or are WE ALL LYING? That would be too condescending for even you to suggest surely?

You clearly have a chip on your shoulder about the stewards - you've managed to avoid commenting at all on the appropriate method of trying to get the rules changed. Wrong again chum! I've even written to Ken Brown about it. But, as others will testify, he's not very good at replying. If he exists at all that is. But don't let let that stop you ascertaining your version of events. Brrrring. Brrring. Westdene's the story teller, and his story must be told....:jester:

It's quite a simple idea - all seater stadia require you to SIT in your seat.I'm really not sure how you fail to understand that ? I do, and couldn't agree with your more. Shame some stewards in the away end don't share our view eh? Would do a lot for supporter morale I'd say from what I've heard.

Have you complained to the club about the stewarding ? Or complained to the FA /League What, like when I wrote to the FA during the mid 90's and they fortunately stepped in and saved the Goldstone from being sold? The number of replies they sent....I remember the postman complaining....Again. You need a large to dose of reality or common sense. Or both or your MP Can't stand the bloke, but that's between you and I. And he's not replied to my Falmer letters yet, so I don't want to trouble him with other matters just yet about the laws enacted after the Taylor Report - thought not - you're just a load of hot air Maybe. But it's not coming from my arse unlike yours.....looking to moan and bash the clubthe stewards are not employees of BHAFC at any opportunityLove the club. Followed it for most of my life and will for the remainder. Don't question this or I really will get annoyed. I just don't like a lot of its fans, especially those that are pompous .

on a snowman plough
,we also have the least police presence out of all their controlled leagues.

nothing to do with stewarding. more to do with the natural tolerance of brighton people and the fact that we dont attract or encourage aggression or inspire hate unlike some of our northern or cockney compatriots.
brighton fans dont and never have (with a couple of notable exceptions)had problems with fans of other teams, the whole town is flooded with northern monkeys and cockney gayboys so we have grown up with, and dont feel the need to confront, outsiders.therefore we generally welcome rather than confront visitors to withdean.

I think you'll find that for the last 4 seasons the FA have named Albion stewards as the best stewards in the whole of their controlled leagues,we also have the least police presence out of all their controlled leagues.

And who votes in these FA polls? Let me guess...away fans. The very same that you let stand up. Mind you, I'm surprised about the lack of police presence. After all, according to you lot there's an ongoing terrorist threat at Withdean.

Brighton is known as an incredibly tolerant place to live, you're right, a source of civic pride.

I kid you not Portlock. This was part of the justification for such a heavy-handed stewarding of a dozen dads and their kids in the family stand in the FA cup game.

f*** OFF???? You been on the sherry my friend?

Let me find it for you....I'll be back

EDIT. Have a look at some of the justifications in this thread

Completely OTT stewarding outside family stand - North Stand Chat

I've subsequently found out from the police that they did NOT get a tip-off about EON, there are NO FA rules about the number of stewards per stand and that if you want the pure unadulterated truth from a steward it's best not to ask the ones that post on NSC.

The worst thing is that I don't think the Albion stewards, by and large are bad blokes and certainly not the worst I've come across. There does seem to be a very "up for it" attitude by some of them - notably around H block .

By the way Champion 7 - I've just spent the last 20 minutes searching the FA website and google trying to find this award for best stewards that you lot have won for the last 4 years, apparently. Fair play if you have but I can't find anything on it. Got a link?

OMG!! And quel surprise, NMH (and his funny Hitler picture...) and Simple Simon the Steward blithering on with their neon jacket take on life. They just don't get it do they? By the way, great use of the phrase 'chiney chin' Pot Noodle early on in proceedings! I'd forgotten that one along with 'itchy beard'. I'm definitely going to get that into conversation tomorrow!! Cheers! Night night everyone. :bigwave:

I'm amazed you spend £25 ( or whatever the student rate currently is ! ) and decide to worry about the away fans standing rather than getting behind the team - think you may have your priorities wrong !!!!

What makes you think the stewards are not employees of the club ?

Bully for you - you managed to write to Ken Brown - have you even thought of following it up ? Writing to other people as part of your campaign about standing at matches ? A single letter is hardly going to change the world is it !

You clearly DO have a chip on shoulder as regards the stewards - as evidenced by your further posts in this thread. Get over yourself - they're people going about their job, in most cases doing it well and getting just over minimum wage to do it. They certainly don't deserve the crap a mindless moron like you is giving them. If you don't like the stewarding then complain to Dick Knight or the Safety Officer Richard Hebbard.
