did you ever go to The Goldstone or have you only started going to the match since around the mid 90's? This is football not a Gilbert and Sullivan production. If you (or anyone else for that matter) wants to SIT and watch, fine, sit in a seated area (or at least an area where people like to remain seated) but don't question the education of those who want to stand with their friends or want to make a noise and get involved in creating a little bit of atmosphere at the match.

.

:lol: if only the football was as refined as Gilbert and Sullivan. Yes I went to the Goldstone since the 70s - in fact I've seen more matches there than at Withdean. The point was trying to make ( and clearly badly ) was that when you buy the ticket you're agreeing to the conditions. If you don't like the conditions then don't buy it and / or try to change the conditions.

If you want to change the conditions around the remaining seated rules then the people to campaign with are ( in order of least importance ) - the club safety officer, the club board, the league / FA and finally, and this is the most important, the government. It's all down to the Taylor report. What it isn't is it's NOT the stewards fault - people need to get off their back and target the people who make the policies. Unfortunately it's far too easy to blame the people at the bottom than get off your arse and deal with the policy makers !!!

spot on jamon to think that 20 odd years ago it would take half of john street on OT to keep some semblance of order. now someone farts and you have the busybodies grassing to some spastic in a hi vis jacket like its f***ing glyndebourne and someone has stolen their spot on the grass.

football is f***ing dead. plenty of reasons for that, but f***ing hell some football fans dont half collaborate with those with their boot on its neck.

except that at most grounds in this country stewards ignore the no standing rule,a quick look at M.O.T.D. or sky sports would show masses of fans standing at premiership and champions league games, last summers euro's finals showed EUEFA tolerating standing at its major games.
only at withdean with its poxy 200 strong singing section is it a problem

Crap Town
I wish they had chucked out the lads behind us in C Block. With their fake North London accents and incoherent shouts - a trio of idiots of the highest order. And an illustration of why we need standing at games.
Was one of them Paxton Dazo as he is a Spurs supporter ? :lolol::lolol::lolol::lolol:

But only for the home fans.

Away fans are allowed to stand throughout the game.

(They are also allowed to chant homophobic comments as well, something that it says on the back of the programme will result in being ejected from the ground.....)

How unbelievably pompous and condescending you sound e.g. "The rules say this and that and even though the majority disagree the rules must be obeyed because they're on a piece of paper blah blah....." Perhaps you've forgotten what it was to be young? Well get this sherlock, ever heard the adage that rules are there to be broken? This is one of those cases, more so because it's not applied consistently. If they were, then you'd have a better argument. As representatives, the stewards do not have to be as ridiculous as some behave for the simple fact that around the country many don't. We know they're the cause of many people not coming to Withdean anymore, and detracting from may others enjoyment on match days. So there's an issue there that the club ought to address, but never seem to listen. Approaching this subject with your legalistic, pompous rhetoric serves no value whatsoever.
