cook passes 200, england lead now 271.
Although it looks like the players don't care (they've just lost heart), I'm sure their fans do. Indians are much more into cricket than we are. What is worrying (and was discussed on TMS) is that the Indians genuinely don't seem to give a toss.
I predict that the IPL means that there will be the Ashes and virtually nothing else in the way of Test Cricket in 10 years time.
Only if the weather forecast is good. Last thing we need is to only have 90 overs at them - while that would probably be enough, it's not something you'd want to risk.Let Cook get his triple ton, and/or England get to 700, then declare. If Strauss felt like it, England could go on to break all sorts of records today. I hope that happens.
If he holds onto his wicket (easier said than done, they won't keep dropping catches) and we get to 700, he will get his triple centure (ok, we might have to go a little past 700).Alec Stewart said on the radio this morning England should be aiming to get to 700 and declare.
I'm willing to risk tempting fate because we're ahead by enough already but this is some knock by Cook and triple centuries don't come along that often.

I totally agree with you. Shane 'what do you think of my new face' Warne was talking nonsense about getting 1000 runs earlier. What for, so we can increase the chance of India getting a draw? They could declare now if they want, we still have another innings if we need it. Saying that, I'd push for some more runs now just to allow us to attack without relenting when we bowl.i dont see the need to get 700 runs here, what are we playing for, the win or players averages? Indian are beat now and the English weather is so unpredictable that I would go no further than a 400 lead which should be by tea. Thats gives us 7 sessions to bowl them out of which I reckon we will need 4 tops.
I'd love to see a list of the most one-sided test matches ever. If we rack up 700 for 4 or 5, and then skittle them again for 250, that would surely rank right up there wouldn't it?

blimey, theres a danger even Ravi Bopara might get to double figures in this match
Facepalm for Bopara.
Wishful thinking on my behalf

When are we going to declare when cook gets out or 700 what ever comes first?
