Now I would've chosen this film too, if I hadn't seen Matrix Revoloutions. At least A.I actually looked stunning. Matrix 3, however was CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP

I take it this is a 'crap mainstream film' thread, because the amount of filth out there on independent labels is truely awful... and I'm not talking about porn before you all ask.

Another vote for Independence Day - shockingly bad, stupid and lazy.

Or failing that I'll nominate either The Draughtsman's Contract by Peter Greenaway or Last Year In Marienbad. The very worst in empty, pretentious art-school wank.

Prospero's Books was shit too.

Forgot about independance day, that really is the most self indulgent trash i have ever seen.

As for those of you that are saying Final destination is good, are you kidding me ?, The plane crash at the beginning is good and u think the film is gonna be superb, then it turns into one of the most laughable pieces of film i have ever seen.

Fast and the Furious - shite
Scary Movie - not funny at all - I really wondered why I bothered with this one.
Carry on Americas (the one with Julian clary) - embarassing, please let the Carry on films lie
Titanic - very clever in places but rubbish. Possible ruined by Celine Dion's singing
Jaws 3D - gimmicky, poor
Naked Gun 33 1/3 - seen it all before, tired
That Exorcist spoof they did as well - dire
The Phantom Menace - promised so much but delivered only poor acting, risible dialogue and a weak story
Patch Adams - what ???
Braveheart - purely for it's total and utter attmept to re-write history - English are evil
The Patriot (M Gibson) - for the same crime
U571 - see above
Pearl Harbor (sp) - tripe
Speed 2 - Cruise Control - boring boring seen it all before
XXX - sorry mate, can you repeat that, you appear to be mumbling !
Alien 3 - To kill of Hudson (or was it Hicks) and Newt in such a cavalier way was a disgrace to the story, and it got worse from there.

I would include Gigli, but that would be based upon reviews, as I haven't seen it.. (never will hopefully).

On the other hand:

Final Destination - execellent on 1st viewing - many scared shitless moments - a true one trick pony however, as it only works if you don't know what's going to happen

Matrix Revolutions - agreed - a real let down, although the battle for Zion for amazing to watch.

Independence Day - I though this was a good film ruined by all the ra ra USA shit, and a total ignorance of what was going on elsewhere in the world - oh, and the fact that Jeff Goldblum's Apple Mac was able to interface so easily with the Alien Mothership.. was that as USB connection?

You really need to try and get into films a little more. Try being a little more understanding of the other people in the cinema.

I am very much into quality films which is exactly why I hated Final destination !

Precisely, and it seems they sold the film on that one scene. As you say, the rest of the film was utter, utter shite. The only other half-decent bit was when the teacher died. There was something slightly psycho-erotic about all that blood.

In which case you should have simply walked out rather then sat there with your 'mates' pissing yourselves with laughter. I would hazard a guess that you were in the minority at the time. It's people like you that ruin the cinema experience for many people.

Me and my fellow colleagues went to see it during a day off at lunchtime and so we were the only others in the cinema. I respect what you are saying totally, if others had been in the cinema I would not have ruined it for them. I agree that people that talk, kick your chair and ruin the film for others are wankers.

Not yet, I have seen the first two and everyone keeps saying ROTK is superb. Im not really into my sword and sorcery type films but the scenery alone is breathtaking in the first two.

I have to take issue with you on this.
Braveheart is one of my all time favourite movies. You have to expect films like this to take some "artistic licence" with the subject, in order to help the story along and increase the drama and heroism. Braveheart is beautifully filmed, the acting is magnificent, the characters all have real depth so you really do care about what happens to them, the scenary is breathtaking, the battle scenes are awesome, the score is beautiful, the script/dialogue is superb....what on earth more could you want from a film ?

Everyone knows that movies about so-called 'real' events will not always stick to the facts. If you want a documentary about William Wallace, go to the Discovery Channel. Films are made purely to entertain, and Braveheart delivers in spades on that front.

It's well worth the effort - I only saw the 1st 2 on DVD, but i wanted to see the climax at the Cinema in all its glory. I understand that if you've read the books ROTK might be a little disappointing, as they story and flow is slightly altered, but it's a very emotive story and the 4 hours just flies by.

Batman And Robin is the only film that I've walked out of the cinema.
I would have walked out of The Good Girl but I fell asleep.
Spice World is also pony.

I was too shocked to answer this myself.. we are all entitled to our opinions, and I think that Braveheart was a travesty. It's not the alteration of history that annoys me, it's more Hollywood's bias against the English at every turn.

Take the Patriot for example - there's a sequence in that where the English general orders the execution of every man in a particulat town. Now this did happen, but actually in the 2nd world war, and it was the German's who perpetrated the crime against (i beleive) a French village.

Just not worth discussing really.
