You poor thing - that much would knock me out! It does sound like an injection to the nerves would help. Have they done a lumbar puncture yet?

No they hav'nt done the lumbar puncture but the pain clinic have said if the injections dont work then it will be some kind of epidural next time, And if that does'nt work then they'll start burning off nerve endings. I just want them to locate whatever is causing the pain and sort it out because it's dragging me down big time now.

Kidney stones aren't exactly a barrel of laughs, I've been blessed with about 9 over the last 12 years. I normally piss them out a couple of days, they're quite small but very sharp. worst time was when one got stuck in my japs eye.

:O :nono: :O :nono:

I had a kidney stone about 5 years ago,its the only time i have had one.
Just to confirm it was absolute bloody agony.I have never had pain like that and hope to god i never get another one.

Before I had a hip resurfacing op I was in constant pain - the sort of grinding pain that just goes on and on and on and where you start hitting yourself so that it'll hurt somewhere else.

Must have been the vasectomy for me when the nice nurse and me were discussing kids (not sure why given what was happening) and the doctor started on the second when and the anaesthetic had not quite set in.

Thankfully Nursey got the message as well when I yelped and said stop

Those vasectomy's can be a bit painfull when the anaesthetic has worn off allthough the swelling is quite impressive. When I had mine done the ends of the stitches kept pricking my todger like little needles so I had those removed a bit pronto.

Tell me about it, I felt like I was carrying a couple of coconuts around in my underpants but I was too frightened to use them.

What got me was the nurse telling me to have sex as often as possible over the next 6 weeks to clear out the live sperm! One look at my technicolored ballsack and I doubted I would ever indulge again. I never realised bruising came in so many different colours.

BB & BH,
Were you by any chance 'snipped' under a general anaesthetic? I did some research before having mine and decided upon having a local so as to avoid all the bruising etc. Had it done one evening, took about 10 minutes and then drove home with a couple of Solpadeine in my pocket - no problem, just some slight soreness for a few days. God knows what goes on if you have a general - game of pool, billiards etc?

Had mine done under local anaesthetic and like beach hut when they started the second one they had'nt put in enough anaesthetic which led to a bit of screaming.

Oooh, lucky - I nearly fainted when i watched that (the lumbar puncture i mean). Being the only german speaker on the ward, i had to speak to this german lady and explain what was going on!!

I'm sure that pain without knowing what it is is horrid, and it's totally understandable that it's dragging you down. I've seen patients with discitis, and they're just in pain all the time. When do you have the injection?

In the Czech Republic in the summer, was on an orchestra tour. We'd just arrived (after a 24 hour coach journey) and we were kicking a ball around in the grounds of the (very old) hotel we were staying in. Someone kicked the ball over just against the wall and I ran over to get it. Just running along and then suddenly SMASH....The very thin sheet of metal I thought was solid ground was actually covering a 7ft manhole. Halfway down the manhole was a pipe that ended up perfectly between my legs (lovely), and my shoulder dislocated on the way down. At first people were laughing (I can imagine it looked hilarious) but when they saw I was as white as a sheet, they took things a little more seriously. Luckily, my shoulder popped itself back in very quickly and a good night's sleep ensured I got over the shock. Luckily the pipe was too wide to actually reach the family jewels. As leader of the cello section, I still had to play the remainder of the tour! Being under that much strain during Mahler's 5th is not something I would like to endure too often.

Hours of childbirth (although not constant - no epidurals in those days) twice, secondly, similar to Race, a tooth abscess in the front gum which made my face swell up so much I couldn't wear my glasses and in third place the migraines I had as a teenager.
